For my first 15 or so years, I was shooting the only bow I owned - 55# @ 28 DH recurve.

Now, I'm shooting the only functional bow I own (partly because I really like this bow and partly because the DH died thanks to crappy string that broke - long story).  My current only bow is a HH Halfbreed (named Chili Maker) that pulls 60# @ 29.

Pictures - why certainly!

As bows with wheels... I'm not sure I understand.  Do you mean the bow was so heavy to carry, that you need wheels to cart it around (like a ballista or something)?

I shoot both, but tend to preder the recurve for some reason.

i shoot both, i prefer my 52" 45#@28 martin rebel recurve.  I have a 55# martin " the stick" longbow and a 50# PSE Legacy R/D longbow as well.  They all feel good but the little 45# short recurve is just right for me.    :archer:

Longbows are cool and light and romantic and all that jazz but I can't shoot them consistently worth a poot, so I shoot recurves.  Specifically recurves with a medium grip and plenty of riser mass.  I do have one longbow but it is a Bob Lee three-piece so I'm not sure it qualifies.

I mostly shoot a Wesley Special Hill Bow 65# at 28" draw, but I also like the Kolomi from Lynn Harreslson at 54# at 28" draw.  I understand your fascination with the long bow. I can't explain it but just like it over the recurve.  Part of it is simply that Howard Hill has long been a hero of mine so I wanted to shoot a bow like he had. Also, I shoot wooden arrows.

Hi Guys,

I shot a Bear Kodiak Magnum (50# @ 28") from 1972 until two years ago when it was damaged in a move.  I bought a Tomahawk (50# @ 28") as my replacement.  I enjoyed the Kodiak, and am wistful as I see it in the closet now and again, but I have no complaints about the R/D Tomahawk.

You probably need to shoot both styles and chose the one you like the best.  I'd suggest going to one of the big Trad events where you have a bunch all in one place!

This year I'm hunting with a 1-pc. Leon Stewart longbow. Recent years, Hickory selfbow and 1-pc. Pronghorn longbow. All excellent bows.
