I saw on scorpion bows website that thier venom selfbow shoots around 220fps, I thnk thats pretty good considering the price.....and thats its and all wood bow!but yea I know alot of info is being left out like, the draw weight, lenthe and weight or the arrow ect ect..but that still seems really good to me.

does anyone own any of scorpions bows by chance?
I am very interested

thanks

Are they self bows or backed bows? What wood?     Pat

the bow shown on the sight seemed to be unbacked, the wood itself I couldnt tell, it was dark brown, I dont know maybe walnut?

Bjorn

I would approach this with a very, very healthy dose of scepticism! LOL!

aromakr

I totally agree with Bjorn. If you want to believe that, I've got a bridge for sale cheep that spans San Francisco Bay!!!!!!

Man must "believe" in something!  I "believe" I will go hunting-----

I'm not sayin I believe it, I mean an all wood bow beating a bow like the acs, or morrison,

I just want some proof lol

and nice one lol

I just looked at the site.  If you look under the warranty & care (or to that effect) it is recommended that arrows of 5-8 gpp be used.  Makes the speed a little more attainable, but that is still purty fast...Mike

Uh,aromakr that bridge is not for sale anymore.  I sold it to one of the guys from "ScentLok".

Sadly, they're getting rich off that bridge.  Hope you got a good price on it.

I shouldn't say "sadly".  If people think/know it works and they want to spend the money for confidence......mmmm...okay.

I would believe that claim, if the draw is 30"s and they are shooting 5gpp. I would say that is  attainable. I bet I have several bows that will do better than that at 5gpp. Any bow shooting 200 fps at 30"s and 9gpp. will easily shoot over 220 with 5gpp. Shawn

James Parker, a bowyer here in NC makes an all wood(and boo) horse bow that he shot through a chrono at the NC State Champs at Hickory two years ago. The bow pulled 50#@28" and using a thumb ring James pulled it at least 30" and it sent a carbon arrow(I don't know the weight) through the chrono at 290fps and later shot a 600gr cane hunting arrow through at 190fps.      Pat

Pat,
are you sure it was 290 fps? That rivals or beats most wheelie bows out there. The last wheelie I had was a Hoyt Havoctec and at 28.5" draw at 65# shot a 27" carbon at 296 fps. If it was indeed 290, I am impressed!

I won't speak for Pat...but I believe he related that same event to me and it was more like 230...not 290.

BTW...all wood bows should be faster than a similar build with glass...glass is not for speed, but stability and durability...carbon is just a lighter way to do that same function...but all wood has speed potential exceeding both.

Rob, What planet are you from!  :)

Those numbers are very doable at 4-5gr/lb from wood bows. "Good" glass/carbon bows will be in the 240-250 range at the same gr/lb....O.L.

The glass and carbon bows will do it more than ONE TIME as well.  :bigsmyl:

Very true! Actually at the flight shoots they don't have too many problems...O.L.  :bigsmyl:

AMEN

hmm, but wouldn't shooting 4-5gr/lb be dangerous for the bow, thats really really really light I can deff see those speeds being reached with such light arrows

but how long can the bow last by doing so?

O.L. Adcock

DP, you just never know! No doubt it's harder on them and it'll sort out the bad ones real quick. I've got quite a few shots through flight bows in the 1.5gpp range. Looking at speeds well over 300 fps. How long will they last? Don't know, haven't broken one yet but could happen on the next shot....O.L.
