Thats right , the new Arrow Dynamics Hammer Head trad EFOC arrow shafts are in boys, 420 grain raw 32" shaft, thats 13.125 grains per inch.
We are proud to have been part of the process of developing this new arrow shaft, now you will be able to get a mid 500 grain arrow with a 125 grain point without brass or tubing, if you want a mid to low 600 arrow add brass insert or 160+ point and your set. Of course these are in wood grain to boot.
They just came in so they are not on the web site yet  www.raptorarchery.com  , I will try to get them there tomorrow , but of course you can call and order them now 541-386-4503 We have only 20 dozen to start so dont procrastinate, more on the way though. Nice to have these before hunting season.

Apex Predator

These sound interesting.  What spine ranges?
I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables!

Ted Fry

Only one spine range , the Trad heavy style of 250 deflection, but these work out of just about everything I can throw at it .
I have shot these arrows with a 25# recurve a 62# recurve, a 50 # long bow and my personal 60# selfbow and they all shot it fine.

Ted Fry

I also sent out a few samples a couple of weeks ago to some of you , you know who you are ,lets hear some feedback , Dave? Curtis? Vance? Terry?

I can only give feed back from LOOKING at them at the moment as a raw shaft cut to my length.....

I've been a fan of the Trads for 6 years, and have been shooting them exclusively for that long, cept when I take my selfbows and I shoot woods.

These are really beefy up front, and LOOK similar in shape of the old Trad Heavies that had an external wrap that you could actually see end, but you can't see where the layer ends on these.

I don't break many stump shooting, only one or two a year, and these should be like the original Trad Heavies that were similar.  I have a dozen or so of them still here, and I aint never broke of of them stump shooting.

The regular Trads are tuff as nails, so these must be like the original heavies and be tuff as railroad spikes.

Ted,
The couple HAMMERHEADS you sent me to try work great !! I tired them out of Recurve & Longbow and flew like darts from both,I even added heavy 200gr. point to see  !! They not only flew great, but quiet the bow as well.I shot them cock feather in & out just experimenting, nice job !!

Not sure what all might fall to a Hammerhead this fall, but I have permits for buck and doe antelope and of course whitetails at home.

Going to work them out on sage hens as well... that should show how tough they are. Lots of rocks and other hard things around and behind sage hens!!

Ted Fry

Thanks Tom, now get ready to shoot one of those whitetail you are sure to get this fall with one.
Charlie , I look forward to seeing you put down that antelope with one in person.
David , finished arrow weight of about 550 with a 125 grain head at 32" , cut it down a bit and reduce by about 13 grains per inch.
Spine wise not sure about your bow, I would probably set you up with the Traditional lite and load up the front.

pharmvet

Im assuming these hammerheads have a larger OD at the tip end since they are beefed up.  Will this OD be larger than a standard 11/32 broadhead?  thanks

Jaeger

Is the wood grain finish smoother than the standard carbons? I've been using the Trad Lites for several years and while they shoot great, if I am shooting them off of an elevated rest they tend to be noisier than carbon arrows with a more "polished" finish.

So far so good on the testing. I did managa to break one but only because it didn' pass completely through and a pig fell on it. Other than that the shafts look to be an improvment over an already "almost" perfect arrow. AD's are the arrow of choice for this kid in any situation I find myself in. I'll be doing some more piggy testing over the next week. Thanks Ted! CK

Curtis, What set-up are ya shooting them from? Shawn

I've shot them in several bows and had great flight throughout. Still shooting my main bow-Horne Brushbow 49#@28". I cut these a little longer than I generally do. They just tuned that way. CK

Curtis,

Nice to hear that you are getting good flight from a bow as light as 49 pounds. Would it be possible to hear more about how you have your arrows set up for that bow, like fletching, insert weight, point weight, additional weighting, arrow length, etc.? Also, are you using the nock inserts with glue on nocks or just the standard nocks?

Thanks,
Allan
