Questions about Howard Hill bows....

I was looking on the HH web site and I am a bit confused. First off the grip whats the difference between dished and pistol? Can someone post some pics? I shoot a dwyer longbow so I would like a grip as close to that as possible. Will he put a bocote lamination on the belly and the back of the bow? It was not real clear on the web page. I am thinking I want one about 58 to 65 lbs @ 28 and 64 inches long. Which model would fall into those specs? Thanks for the help!

Slayer 1 Craig will do just about anything you want The straight grip is just that a straight the slight dish is close to straight but not quit I will post a few pictures of each. I personally wouldn't want a pistol grip on a Hill bow. I would try and shoot a few before I would buy. The straight grip is the best on the Hill's....stabow

Hill bows in my opinion are made to be shot like
Howard Hill shot them .Not with a pistol grip. I will say that after shooting trad bows for a lot of years they are the most forgiving and enjoyable to shot of any I have shot. We all like different stuff but I`m liking Hill`s right now.RC

Slayer....
   Craig at HH will make you a bow out of any combo of wood that he has available....
   The differant models can be mixed matched 100's of ways....
   You can make a duplicate of your bow grip and send to him and he will match it....
   I'm with RC, except that I like a slightly Disched grip....

Craig's standard "pistol grip" is just a slight index grip, i.e., a slight indentation near the top of the grip, and from there pretty straight to the bottom of the grip.  It is not indexed nearly as much as a Dwyer.

Slightly dished and straight. I shoot them both equally well, but prefer the way the straight feels in my hand. The grips a very personal thing and agreeing with the others, I highly recommend you try and shoot a couple before you order although Craig can reshape a straight grip into any of the others.

When I switched from recurve to longbow with a HH I went with the index grip. Later I tried a straight grip and with the Hill style bow I now find this the most comfortable. Definitely a personal choice so as others say try the different ones if you can.Mike
