Looking for a bolt on quiver for the bow I have coming. I used a Selway years ago, but have mostly used hip quivers. Looked at great northern. Anybody have a preference?

Steelhead

I like the Great Northern. Not too big,not to heavy.

It mounts very close to the riser and you can slide it in and out.I mount it close to the riser for better balance on the bow.Thats why I think its excellant mainly!

I really like the Great Northern bolt on I have on my 72 Super Kodiak.

I ordered a Thunderhorn bolt on dyed to match the colors of my bear TD-red and black. They make a great quiver.

I wondered about the weight of the great northern. Nice to hear they're not too heavy.

I like my 2-piece bolt-on Thunderhorns.  But I've come to prefer the Thunderhorn strap-on because it is so quick and easy to remove, but still rock solid on the bow... just as solid as a bolt-on in my opinion.
Life is a whole lot easier when you just plow around the stump.

I've thought more and more about telling the guys in Nixa not to worry about the quiver bushings and just going to a strap down type. Those and slide on quivers are definitely easier to find on the used market too.

Archie

I like quiver bushings but since some folks in the resale market frown on them, I'm not having them installed on the bow I have on order.  I doubt that they affect the integrity of the riser, and I like having options.  But I've had such good experiences with strap-ons that it won't bother me to do without them.

Check out the Marksman Quivers bolt down quiver.
It's a modular system so if you decide to go a different route you can use the same hood and gripper and convert it to a strap down or even a hip quiver.

I have seen those. They look like a solid option as well.
