Never use one before.  Slide on and strap on a many. I'm thinking about using one on the Sasquatch Kirk is going to build for me.

What can you tell me about them, and any opinions of which brand to use?

Gunshy are great quivers. Bolt on are my favorite type solid and quiet.

LookMomNoSights

I've had bolt on Great Northerns Terry, they were as fantastic as the rubber strap models I favor these days for the long bows.......
I wouldn't hesitate.   And,  not sure what you prefer for how your arrows are stacked,  but I'd opt for the in-line gripper as opposed to the 3 across the front,  2 at the back situation.  In line is where it's at.

Orion

I like Selways.  They make a version that bolts to inserts on the side of the riser as well as a model that uses a TD's limb bolts.  Very solid and quiet in either configuration.

Terry Green

I will check them out Eric, however, I like my arrows stacked with 2 in the back. I've been running them for decades. 1, they flair my fletch cover out width wise enhancing my 'blind' that a bow quiver provides. 2, I keep my 'special' BIG hog head 1st in the back, and my judo 2nd in the back. If I need that special head, I don't have to look, just feel and remove.

Great point regarding the fletch cover. I don't use one, but in-line gripper does certainly spreads them out a bit more and you'd probably get all kinds of crispy fletch noise if you tried to get one to slip over them stacked in-line,  if it fit over them at all!  I'm sure their 2 at the back configuration wouldn't cause you any issues with the cover.

Terry Green

No Eric, no issues will be had with the 2 in the back, I've had Great Northers quivers for years.  I like the kick back design, never had that model from them.

I really like Thunder horns bolt on quiver myself....They have a good selection of sizes and are very solidly built.

But.... I use my bolt on quiver on my ILF riser and it mounts on the belly ramp side rather than the back of the riser with standard limb bolts. I use a brass sex bolt assembly as you can see on the photo below.

But.... These quivers work excellent using standard limb bolts and mounted on the back of the riser too.

Something to think about Terry... We have your new bow order written up as a Blind limb mount. So there are no exterior limb bolts. If you are seriously thinking of a bolt on quiver, we need to revisit the work order and make adjustments.

You can still have the full overlay that looks just like the one piece bow, only just use standard limb bolts like this one....

Or we could even use the brass sex bolt mounting system and mount your quiver on the belly ramps....

Food for thought..... Kirk

Kanati quiver I bought from you a few years ago. Absolutely love it, quite and solid, limb bolt model that I use on my NM Skanee, it's only a 4 arrow quiver, but I use a Catquiver backpack and keep my judos in that. EFA quivers make some very similar to this style.

Too many bows to list, and so many more I want to try!  Keep the wind in your face, and your broadheads sharp.

I like this bolt on Great Northern I have on my Super Kodiak. 5 arrow, 3 up front 2 in the back. Solid, quiet and I think it looks pretty good as well.

I do believe there are a lot of really nice quivers being made out there. Good luck in your choice Terry.

Terry, I also have 2 Great Northern kickback extreme quivers on 2 different recurves, one is limb bolt model and one is side mount, I can't find any pics of them at the moment, but will take a couple when I get home and post them.

Roy from Pa

Terry, have you ever tried an Eagles Flight quiver from our sponsor here?

They attach very snug and transferable from bow to bow.

Roy, I have 7 of his quivers.  :biglaugh:

However, he doesn't make a bolt on.

I like Thunderhorns.  I've got a strap-on and a couple of bolt-ons.  I strongly prefer the bolt-on, and I like those 3-4" extensions... they allow space to rotate the hood and gripper and re-angle the arrows in relation to the bow or bottom limb.  Food for thought... someone needs to build and market a 2-pc strap-on "receiver" to use for putting a bolt-on quiver onto a bow with no inserts.  I made such a thing 10-15 years ago for my BW 7/5 quiver, and it continues to work well.

Hey Terry these are my favorite. One is a Kanati, I'm pretty sure they are not made anymore. The other is a Thunderhorn. They are both high quality and very functional. I had the green one the second time we went to Crane.

Mint

I like both the Selway and Thunderhorn bolt on quivers. I use big Simmons and Palmer extreme cut heads and need room to fit at least five heads.

Kirk, what about side inserts?

Standard quiver bushings are too small in my opinion. I believe the screws are only 10-24 . I put some in one of my hunting bows years ago and hated them. The ones that use the limb bolts for mounting are the only way to go.... Or the belly mount bolts are good too. Those are 5/16-18 thread bolts, and hell for stout.   .02 cents worth...

I went back to the Sellway strap on quiver for my Sasquatch hybrid.
