I am new to traditional, so I need a little help! I recently purchased a used martin x-200 recurve. It is rated at 50 pounds at 31 inch draw. My draw length on compound is 29.5. It came with a dozen carbon arrows, with 500 spine. But I would really like to switch to cedar arrows. I am guessing to achieve a similar spine to the carbons, I need somewhere in the 55-60 range. Any suggestions on what would be a good number to start with? I am also considering a long bow. Also with a 50 pound at 30 draw. Is there a good arrow I can use for both bows? Thanks in advance!!

first off you need to find your draw length with you new bow (recurve) But using your 29.5" draw I would get a test kit from 3rivers.... I would also say that 60-65# would be right on for you...

I agree with MG about your draw length, I would bet that with trad equipment you're drawing 28" or so. Find out what your bow weighs at 28", or your actual draw length, add 10# to that, and you should be pretty close.
