There's Hope!

There's a young kid that lives down the street I have grown quite fond of as of late. To say it nicely his mom and dad aren't what I would call productive citizens. The past month I've taken him fishing afew times and last week I let him play with some bows and arrows. Well gents, I pulled up to my house this afternoon and spotted someone In my yard. Yep it was him cutting my grass. I never asked or expected squat. He said your grass looked kinda tall so figured I would cut it, then asked when I was going fishing again and can I teach him to shoot a bow. Yep, got a chit eating grin ear to ear. Boys think I've found a winner!

One day many, many years from now he's going to look back to these days and you will likely be some of his fondest memories of his youth. Its so hard to appreciate all our blessings. I always had family around, hunting, fishing, trapping, farming, etc. I have no doubt that a kind, patient, and benevolent portion of his character as an adult will have come from you.

You guys are to kind! I'm far from anything remotely special but try my best to show kids exactly what they are missing by spending there day infront of the tv. It's been one disaster after the next for me fellas. From spending days scouting with a kid to only catch him, his dad and uncle trespassing months later with rifles during bow only season. To a kid i spent months with showing how to shoot, to having him come by with a X-gun saying look at this it's so easy. Yes I've had my share of disasters but got a good feeling with this one. He's got guts! He's 14 and I'm gonna give him the keys to the castle. I haven't been so happy in a long time. He really made my day
