Does anyone know the significance of the white rusty contraption the Bear Red Polar recurve is leaning against on the new issue of TBM? I'm not one to criticize but unless I'm missing something here this is the worst cover picture I have ever seen on TBM. Please help me understand the meaning of this picture!

Dave2old

I agree! So do the TBM folks! I have it on good authority that TBM just held an editorial meeting last weekend, and recent cover art was a topic of much discussion. Watch for a new, livelier direction, including hunters and wildlife, and even some fine art. Rightly, because they serve and reflect an independent audience, TBM wants to look different than the mill-run "hook and bullet" rag. But this was a bit far afield, and realized, and corrections will be made. I look forward to future covers, esp. wildlife and hunting art. Dave

"O" Come on guys, old bows and old trucks don't they kinda belong together   :)
Inside every old man there is a young man asking what the heck happened.

Charlie Cole

I like old trucks, too, but the Jan/Feb issue had it all over this month's issue.

The Whittler

I liked it, as I do all of them.

Some will want all animals, others will want all mountains, and others all hunters.

I like the idea that you don't know what's comeing until it arrives. I think they do a good job of mixing it up. TBH keep up the good work.

SOS

Funny what people think.  My first thought, why is the bow unstrung?

Van/TX

Old truck, old bow.  The old truck looks about shot but the old bow is still going strong.  I thought it was a cool pic...Van

I'm more interested in what's on all the pages behind the front cover.

Kip

I liked it like almost all of the covers.Kip

I've seen other covers on TBM that I've prefered over this one. But that said, this one was just fine. With the Bear bow and the Fedora on the hood of the old car, I couldn't help but wonder if the intent was to try to suggest a tribute of sorts to Fred Bear, whos' birthday was a few days ago.

Well now I see it is an old vehicle of some sort. That never crossed my mind before I posted. Thanks for helping me understand a little more about this picture. I still don't think it is magazine cover material. Just my thoughts.

DeerSpotter

Now I think that truck belong to " Mr. Bear " himself, so wouldn't that be appropriate !!!  :bigsmyl:

Longbowz

Maybe it wasn't the best composed shot, but I thought the concept of the picture was interesting.  An old car, and old bow and a fedora hat.  A little nostalgia.
I find the older I get, the less I used to know!

I think the covers have been "weak" for some time now with an occasional good one .

I'm with SOS.  I wondered why the bow was unstrung.  I liked the cover though.  Old trucks are cool.

George D. Stout

The old bow was probably unstrung because that was the mindset of the older archer.  The old selfbows were always unstrung when at rest, and this carried over to many archers in the 50's.  At least that's my story 8^).

By the way....I liked the cover...it reminded me of me.

Bowtie

Didn't bother me none.  More interested on what's on the inside.
The work praises the man.

Covey

I think they do an outstanding job on and in every issue! I don't see anything wrong with the cover. just my 2 cents Jason

shaft slinger

i like it,
By the way, they shoot old trucks don't they???? thats why the bow is unstrung so it can't shoot the old truck.

thats my story and iam sticking to it

Ray Hammond

an old car??? Heck, I thought it was a ship's anchor chain. I must be going blind. Ifthats an old car its been through a hail storm of grapefruit proportions.
