I just bought a used longbow. It shoots great and looks good the only thing is the glass in dull no real scatchs or ding just dull. Is there anything I can use to clear it up so it will be clear that well not hurt the glass.
At the rate this world is going Enjoy today for it is the good old days your Kids and Grandkids will hear about

Tooth paste will shine it up, without abrading any of the glass away.
You might also try waxing it, as that may bring back the luster to the glass.
It could be that the last owner rubbed it down with steel wool to "kill" the shine.

I wouldn't polish the glass then finish over it.  Glass should only be sanded to 220 grit for proper adhesion of the finish.  The finish wouldn't stick nearly as well to a polished surface.  Chad

I have used "Semi-chrome" paste to polish all kinds of clear plastic..Works wonderful
We use to get it a the motor cycle shops, but it can be hard to find.. The other thing is to go to the boat shop and get a Gel Coat polish.. Most likely the hazing is really only in the finish anyway
Many have died for my freedom.
One has died for my soul.

I'am with Chad on this one.I would not polish the glass for two reason, one that will not provide any type of protection for your bow, unless you don't mind waxing the glass about every other time you use your bow.Two would be just as Chad mentioned, once polished nothing will stick to it.Even new finish.I sand the clear glass with 220 grit dry sandpaper gently. And then apply new finish.Once the finish comes in contact with the sanded glass it will be almost cystral clear....New finish will make the glass clearer then polishing...bowdoc

Not to hijack but what finish do you recommend?
If I wanted to fill in or smooth out a couple holes is there a sealer first of just apply the finish after 220 sand paper?
