A friend of mine is trying to figure out a starting point for finding carbons. He has a 31" draw and will be shooting a bow in the 55# range and a point weight of 175 grains. What spine axis/mfx would you guys recommend trying for this setup?

I was just fiddling this morning with my 55@28 Silvertip.  I am drawing 29 1/2"

340s at 30" need 250g

340s uncut bareshaft perfect with 125g

That should get you close...

I'm shooting 300 axis out of a 60 lb ACS CX with 100 gr insert and 125 gr head.  Depending on whether the shelf is cut to center or past may dictate what he'll need.  Probably get by with the 340 but you'll just have to play with it.  Good luck.

Your friend could use the 340 or 300's depending on point weight.

I would start with the .340s and try a couple.  He may have to go to the .300 with such a long draw.

I shoot full length 340's with either 100 grain inserts and 125-175 grain heads.  6 of my arrows have regular MFX inserts, so with them I use 240 grain Zephyr Sasquatch broadheads.  I have a 30" draw and perfect flight at least to 20 yards, which is my max for whitetails.

I'm shooting beman mfx 400 , 31" with 200-250 up front regular inserts. My bow is 55#@28 and I'm drawing to 30 1/2 - 31 with it .

from what i've seen of these shafts and those draw weight/length numbers you'll probably be beter off with the 400's unless you really want to go heavy with the head/insert combo. got at least one long-draw archer here that shoots the 500's, he's 31" draw, 53# or so LB with 50 grain insert and 125 points---they fly good for him but he has an exceptionally clean release (one of those guys that makes it look like the string cut through his fingers)

Drewsbow, are you shooting a longbow?
