Like the bow Kenny and Roy! Got my trade bow near on finished. Had couple shots, think its a real shooter. Maybe couple photos soon. Target weight was &0# - &5# and it came in at &3# which I'm happy about.Wont be shipped for a while though and probably wont get to @#$%^&$#% for about another month. Sorry for the delay but it will still be well in time.some awesome bows being posted so far!

You two knuckleheads crack me up.  It really makes my day when i get the chance to read the daily ribbing each other.

Well, I couldn't get pictures on photobucket yesterday, but I worked on a home-built lam grinder and got everything finished up.  Ran one test piece.  I think it'll work out alright.  Just need to try a few more and see how even everything comes out.

Today I hung out with the kiddos all day.  Momma had a bachelorette party to go to for her sister, so it was 'fun with daddy' day.  Went shed hunting and my little girl found this

Hopefully tomorrow or Monday I'll get a chance to run some lams through the sander and really try it out.  It'll either work or it won't, right?

One of two things will happen; it'll either work or it won't.

Bowmaking season started for me last week.  I finally got all my venison sausage and jerky done a couple weeks ago so now it's onto the wood.

I have this awesome little hickory bow about done for the swap.  It'll finish out at 52# at 28".

Today I finished what is possibly the best selfbow I have ever made.  I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow.

I also toasted a belly on a bow today and got it bending pretty good.  I had another bow about finished a while back and got it ready for final finish today.  Finally, I have this incredible little bendy handle bow I started 8 years ago.  It's got a layer of sapwood left at the handle and the tips as overlays.  Super cool.  I'll work on finishing it up in the next week or so.

Next up is a BBO static I started eons ago and never finished and tillering the one I toasted today.  Gotta go cut wood at a couple places in the next month or so also.  I love bowmaking season  :)

Asked my Son if he could burn in some decorations on a piece of leather I'm using to make a quiver.
I told him to just use his imagination.
I was suprised when he called me out to the shop and showed me what he'd done.

Guess he knows what I like!

Joe,
That is impressive!  I have always wanted to be able to draw.  I sure admire those with the ability.  Tell him to keep it up.

Roy from Pa

Very nice Joe. He has talent.

That is nice wood, Ralph.

SportHunter

Nice artwork Joe, he even included hedge balls for his pops. Excellent work!

mwosborn

Nice leather work  Joe - he has some art talent!

I shot my short Osage that I am working on.  Think I am done with the tillering - shoots pretty nice and I am at weight so I better call it good.  sanded it a bit and put some rawhide on the back - have to work on another while it drys.  Will post some pics when it is finished.
Enjoy the hunt!  - Mitch

Here's the best selfbow I have ever made.  Osage, 60", 47# @ 27", burned tips and handle, heat treated belly, super narrow and slightly flipped tips, very little follow and a sweet shooter.  I used no power tools in the construction but did use a heatgun for the tempering and bending.
