Well I guess it's about time to introduce myself. I've been shooting archery for years. Over 40. Held executive positions at my archery club, and taken most species of big game, small game, fish and birds at one time or another. But, until now,  only dabbled in traditional archery.

A friend of mines dad asked me years ago, "Gary, when are you going to get rid of those training wheels and get a real bow?"

My answer? " When I get tired of hitting what I'm shooting at, or you take the sights off of your rifle. Which ever comes first."

Well I guess I got tired of hitting what I was shooting at, cause her I am.

Nice to meet you all, and thanks in advance for all the help. And thanks Squint for the 2 new bows.

Hoytman,
now the fun starts....

you get to acquire bows that no longer look like cyborg contraptions rolling on training wheels....but rather elegant pieces of craftsmanship with the most exotic woods available in the world.

you get to re-discover and enjoy the flight of the arrow.  In time you'll discover why it's called ARCHery.  For my old eyes it's tough to see an arrow traveling 300+ fps, my speed is now less than 200 fps.  It's a fine thing to watch an arrow's arch...

you get to learn, or re-discover stuff you never knew you didn't know about archery in your 40 years of high-tech.

research the importance of Momentum vs Kinetic energy.

you'll find Traditional archers are just a bit warmer people, more concerned about the journey rather than the destination, or in bowhunting terms not so concerned about the size of those antlers.  You'll learn to appreciate the size of those ears.

less cut-throat competition and just plain old more fun.....

welcome aboard.  :campfire:

Hoytman, I am new to this site.  Been doing traditional since it wasn't traditional.  When the compounds came out I tried a few.  Was able to shoot them well, just never seemed to enjoy it.  I think my signature says it all.  Welcome.
Shoot strait and have fun!
