Need your opinions on whether to get a Super Shrew or one of the Thundersticks(Moab or Mag 111) Turn around time is not an issue, nor is price.

vermonster13

Both are excellent bows and bowyers. Which grip fits you best is where I would go.

I have only been able to shoot the MOAB of the two.  Like vermonster said look at the grips.  FWIW I loved the MOAB.  Mark

Then, the answer would be... BOTH

You can always sell one.

They are both great bows. If you want a short hybrid in the Thunderstick line the bow to look at is the MAG.It starts at 56"s and draws like a much longer bow.Grips on both are very good as far as consistant  hand placement which equals accuracy..Tuff choice.

You are comparing two very different bows.  I have shot both and both are great bows!!  That being said like Vermonster stated the grip is the deciding factor.  Shoot both and see what fits you and your style best!!

I have had a MOAB since 05, it is a great bow. Comfortable, easy to shoot, very forgiving even for a hybrid and best, very fast regardless of the pounds. I have a 52# and never found it wanting. Jim Reynolds is also a great boyer, he will work with you. It isn't my way or get someone elses. I have several friends and two family members that have Jim's bows. You wouldn't be sorry.

I was thinking 6 months for a Thunderstick 1 year for a shrew!Order both.
Both are great bows.

BiHunter,

When faced with a tough choice between two things I really like, I use the following sentence to decide;

I really want the ________________, but the _____________ is geat too.

The bow you put in the first blank is the one to go with. The one that you would put in the second blank is just making you second guess.

That said, I have shot both and would put the Shrew in the first blank.  Both are great bows and made by even better people. You can't go wrong either way!

Just My Opinion,

Wow, tough choice.  I have shot both, but have only limited time with the Thunderstick.  Great bow, but I liked the Shrew a little better.  The grips are quite different.  Pick whatever fits.  Good luck.

Robert,
I own a Shrew Classic Hunter (54") and a Thunderstick III (60").  Both are excellent bows.  If you like short bows go with the Shrew.  If you prefer a longer bow, go with the Thunderstick.  Considering a take-down?  If so, I'm not sure if you can get a take-down Thunderstick, but I know you can get a take-down Shrew.  Good luck.

Also Jims been making bows longer than most bowyers today, that's something to consider.    :readit:

Speaking of longer bows, Ron any more thoughts on a 66" Shrew?

Molson

I haven't shot a Moab but hear nothing but good about them.  As for Jim, we were looking at his bows at one of the shows.  We had our boys with us, which were all 12 and under at the time.  Boys being boys, they kept picking up the bows and looking at them.  We kept telling them not to touch. Jim gets up and walks over and tells the boys these bows are too heavy.  He picks a few lighter ones off the rack and tells them to try them.  This made me a nervous wreck as I could just see one of them dry firing.  Jim didn't seem worried at all and kept encouraging them. Doesn't seem like much but it made the boys happy and made them feel important.  To me, that says alot about who Jim is.

As for the Shrew...Just got mine a few days ago. I'd buy another in a heartbeat.  Matter of fact, I'll probably call Ron this week and do just that!

I'd buy both! It builds character for kids to put themsleves through college. So everyone wins!
