I think a morrison! thats what he killed woody with.

Tony Sanders

The last I remembered, Barry was/is shooting a Dale Dye bow and Gene was/is shooting a Morrison. Unless they have recently changed bows.

I work with Gene and Barry on a regular basis (I designed/manage their website) and also have shared hunting camps with them for several years.  Barry currently shoots a Dale Dye recurve.  He shoots split fingers off a little finger of a rest that he places very close to the shelf.  Gene shoots a Morrison TD most of the time (Three fingers under off shelf).  He owns a Dakota and Shawnee w/recurve limbs.  Yes, he shot "Woody" with a Morrison TD recurve.  His bows have Canebrake and Copperhead skins.  I have tons of pictures posted at  www.brothersofthebow.com

Biggie - I hope you mean with his bows  :)

In Masters of the Barebow II Barry does a shooting section and describes  his bow pretty thoroughly. I believe Gene and Woody are also shown on the  Morrison website.

Gene is on MBBI with his shooting section and bow description. dino

Barry no longer shoots a Dale Dye, though did for years. As well as a Schaefer Silvertip. both very quality bows!

I'm setting here in the wee hours of the morning and can't sleep and am browsing this forum and reading this post thinking "Who is Woody? and "Did he really shoot one of his brothers?". Naw can't be. Then I follow the link see "Gene's Tribute to Woody". I'm thinking "Dang that's strange you'd put a tribute on your website to the brother you shot in a hunting accident.". This is going to be interested. Then I see Woody is a HONKing whitetail deer. You dope go back to bed!       :smileystooges:            :bigsmyl:          :biglaugh:

Dad (Barry), shoots a beautiful Dale Dye although he owns various others. Uncle Gene shoots Morrison. Wonderful bows.

blacktailchaser  You can also read about the Wensels in last fall (2007) edition of The Bowyers Journal. See article "Bow Brothers".

Biggie, you know my little bro don't know what he's talkin' 'bout. We gave each other a hard time about it already. He expressed his sincere apologies and readily agrees that big brother knows best. At least that's what I got outta the conversation...

I'd like to know if it was the right son or the wrong son who called him (Barry) last year when we were pig hunting just as one of the little porkers was coming out of the brush???

He has a tough time remembering to turn the cell phone off...

Barry had a different bow pig hunting last year than the Trails End.  I think it was a lighter weight, shorter Fedora.  Hurting shoulder I think.

What issue of the Boyers Journal was the article in?  I don't get that one but always love reading about my heroes   ;)

grizback

I may be wrong but Steve O is correct from what I remember, Jay says he got a new Dye, but at christmas he was shooting a Fedora. Alright guys, let the truth be told, he carries a recurve with him in camp but he always "scouts his areas" before he hunts and drops off his Mathews at the stand. Call him on it!

Herdbull

Steve, It was the fall/winter issue 2007 of TBJ. I think you could consider it the current issue, since I have not received a new one yet and they come out 4 times a year.

How does one get the Bowyers Journal? Sounds like good reading...Thanks, Paul
