Three fingers under is a much smoother and cleaner release.  You will impart more energy to the arrow, which may lead to a faster arrow.  At the NFAA level,  the scores show the difference between split fingers and three under.  Your fingers work in unison, unlike the split fingers which are seperated by the arrow.
