I posted a poll a while back about what feather shape I should use, and I'm pretty set on using the Vario Clipper P&Y shape... but lately I've been seeing a lot of people posting about 'nanners.  I've never shot them.  Are they good for hunting?  Any insight into them would be appreciated.  I read somewhere that they are noisy, but then read somewhere else that they were one of the quietest.
All the best,

I'm pretty sure Terry Green uses them and big ones to boot.

I use them and like'em.  If you have a Vario get yourself the Hunter (nanner cut).  You can make them low profile 5", no more noise than any other cut.

I use 5 1/2 and on a few that were poorly fletched i hear a little hiss going down range but the ones i fletched properly they are quiet as could be.  I know of one guy that uses them and they hiss like a SOB but he is the only person I have seen use them that they make that noise.

I love my nannas they fly true and offer great flight.

5.5" nanners will sabilize a tuned (or untuned) arrow in a shorter distance than most other feathers. Been using them with success for over twenty years. As far as noise goes, at traditional hunting distances, the little extra noise is a non-issue. At least the deer and turkey on my wall didn't seem to notice.

I've been using them for 15+ years and love them. Yes they can be noisy but what I've noticed is that the noise does not bother a deer like other fletching profiles. Meaning when you miss a deer the nanners don't seem to spook them as bad. I personally like seeing the big bright feathers and they stabilize quick.

5 1/2 nanners and shields for me. The only time I've ever heard a sound is when I shot one with torn fletch or hit a rock that jumped up in front.

I like them also 5.5" and I burn mine to be around 5/8" high,a little lower then die-cuts.They are tall but I think they are arrow dynamic and I like the looks.
