My wife mentioned she might shoot with me a lil if she had a bow.........        

Soooo I ground some red cedar lams yesterday,got some wild-lookin hickory in the shop for the riser. Do ya think that color combo would be stylin?

Heres a shot of the hickory I'm gonna put in the riser,should I stain it or leave it alone? Maybe I'll put some finish on a test piece of both woods........


might make some killer lookin veneers,can I waste it on a riser???

Kenny stain it. You could go with a real dark red and it would lighten up as you know. I cannot wait to see it!  Shawn

I`m with Shawn on this one. Stain red,then sand real hard to take the stain off the hard grain and leave it in the soft parts. That should give it some contrast.  Bob

Have to do some test pieces when it warms up to at least 11 degrees! LOL

Changed up on the riser wood,went to ash with a walnut and maple lam in it. gonna glue up the limbs after dark,today and tomorrow are my last 2 days to bowhunt,so I can't miss that!!

Got a brand new plan,wife went to KC with me today to look at lam wood. She comes carryin this over and says "you can make me a bow out of this for my birthday!"


So,new plan, all purpleheart bow with some kind of dark flare in the riser.?? At least I hadn't had time to get the other one glued up!
