The first 2 are of me getting my stuff ready. They are calling for rain so I have a bit more stuff than usual.

Here is my "new to me Shrew" hanging on the rack. Did I mention its the best bow I have ever shot?

Here is all my gear. Dont know how the black work shoes got in the picture. lol. I am pretty new to this digital camera stuff.

Looks like rain. So I think I will head to the ground blind. This is a picture of where I hunt. There is an old tobacco barn just inside the tree line. Can you see it? The land owner hunts out of the top of it. He killed a nice 8 point with the gun earlier in the year.

This is the first year, I have ever deer hunted from the ground. My friend the land owner, thought I was crazy until killed a nice buck and doe out of it.  :D   He calls the blind a tent. Which I guess it is. Russell is about 70 years old and I guess he's never heard of anyone hunting from the ground esp here in NC. I think I changed his mind. Anyway here is my ground blind. Its brushed up pretty good. Can you see it? It looked a lot better when the leaves were still on the trees.

I got in the blind no rain yet but the weather man says is coming. Just trying to get settled in. I still haven't got the hang of the picture taking. The first one is with the flash. The second one is without the flash. Its a view to the outside. I have all the windows blocked off so as to let as little light in as possible. I only have a very narrow window to shoot, so I always have to be ready.

Not a whole lot moving today. Its pretty slow. By now the rain has started and it seems to be getting worse. Its nice to be dry. I just enjoyed being outside. Here is another picture from inside. I don't now why but I just like this picture. Maybe its the light. Its a picture of my bow lying on the ground inside the blind. Did I mention this is the best bow I have ever shot?  :biglaugh:

Cool Beans Man!!!   Appreciate the pics... It is always a good day to be in the woods, when there's hunting to be done.. I really tend to slack off after the rut... may hunt 1-2x from the Thanksgiving school break- Christmas... However, the last week of the season, is a great reprieve to get back to savor the woods again, unwind from the chaos that comes with the holidays... and to savor what will take another year to come again...
Expect the best. Prepare for the worst. Capitalize on what comes.

Good hunt! I like the setup. I am not surprised at your previous success with it.
 :thumbsup:

I love a quiet rainy day when I can enjoy a scant shelter and watch the woods drip.

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Your blind does brush in well. My setups in the blind are usually the same in that I have to be constantly ready to shoot as lanes are usually limited. Congrats on getting out  :thumbsup: .

Nice setup....what are the spec's on your Shrew?  I have the same quiver and I really like it.

Its 58" long 58lbs @ 28 inches. It sure is a shooter! Sure wish I had found it sooner! Thanks for all the kind comments guys. This is the only ground blind I have set up this year. Next year I have a few other places picked out for more blinds!

Shakes, I got this one from a local archery shop. I think it is an ameristep brand. I think I paid about 150.00 for it. I should have bought a couple of them. I killed this buck from it this year.

Leland

Scott nice buck,is that a Dwyer you took it with?  Leland
