i have had my bow for 5 years and everytime i shoot it my string starts two fray. then the string brakes 1 or 2 months later. i am going to go have it checked out at pse but i dont want to pay for new limbs

Dan Worden

I'm guessing it's breaking at one of the nock loops. Look closely at the point it frays and where that point contacts the limb. Take some fine sand paper and smooth out the edge.

Where does it fray?  If it is in the loop, I would think there is roughness in the nock (the notches the string rides in). If that is the case, I would think they need to be smoothed out.

Yes, I agree with the guys above, there is a rough spot in a string nock.  I had the same problem.
Take a small round file, or crochet hook (anything small and round), wrap with fine sandpaper, and lightly go over all the nocks and make sure there are no rough spots or sharp corners.
