Kota Killum

How is the Kota for quietness,shoot ability compared to the Chinook? Never shot either but they are the two I have been studying. Given the price is the Chinook twice the bow the Kota is?

I used to have a 46# Kota Killum.  One of the bows I wish I had kept.  Quiet and quick for.  I have never shot a Chinook, so can't comment there.  The Killum is nice.  I liked the leather wrapped grip also.  It seemed to fit my hand well.

I am the same, sold mine, really a nice bow, easy to shoot, quick and light. Never shot a Chinook either.

I've owned both. Both are well made. The Chinook probably has a better finish and mine was a bit faster than my Killum. It's not twice the bow, by any means, but I'd say the Toelke is the better of the two, though not by a huge margin.

Neither grip fit me well enough for me to be as consistent as I wanted to be, which is why I didn't keep either one. I've found a higher grip suits me better. That's not a knock on either bow. It's just me. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either bow. If money isn't an issue, go with the Toelke. If your budget doesn't allow it you won't be disappointed in the quality of the Kota.

That probably doesn't help your decision though...sorry. If you can, shoot both before buying. Or do what I did and buy used. I'm pretty sure I got my money back on both, maybe less the shipping.

I have owned both and still shoot a Kill-um.  Both great bows.  Chinook maybe a tad faster.  Both very quiet.  The string on the Kota is better.  My string on the Chinook never did stop stretching.

Thanks guys, I guess I have read so many great reviews on all the Tolke bows I already feel confident that any bow from them are winners. Honestly I am glad to hear good things about the Kota as the price and looks are very appealing!

I didn't think the Kota was near as nice as the chinooks I've had.  Also thought customer service I've had with the Toelkes is better.

Performance.....I would say the Chinook, fit and finish is very good. Shootability, I would lean towards The Kota......just fits my style of shooting. It's a bow that should not have sold. Just my opinion, both bows are really good.

Ron nailed it.  The Kill-um is just a bow that shoots more consistent for me.

I never have shot the chinook, would like to try one.  I really liked the killum I owned.  However, I sold it when I bought a RER retro.  Retro shot better for me.

Own a Chinook, on the list for a Killum.
They seem to be different style bows,....

My Chinook is already one of my all time favorites, and as mentioned many times, price, lead time, and customer service cannot be beat. Dan Toelke is one of those guys you WANT to buy something from.

My limited communication with Tim at Kota is right there, seems like a guy that also does a great job. Very much a hunter also .
Can't wait to get my Killum.

I had Tim make me a Killum a few years back. An absolute wonderful shooting bow. I think it's the best 50's style bow I have ever shot. Tim is a great guy to deal with and a really good hunter as well. Can't go wrong with a Killum!

Have a Killum, and as said above they are pretty hard to beat.  Smooth drawing and quick.  Never had, or shot, a Chinook" to make a fair comparison. Tim Finley is a master at choosing and combining exotic woods in Risers and veneers, and his limb tips are always gorgeous.

Got my new to me Killum today and I am very impressed. Smooth drawing,quiet and zippy. Would not surprise me if a custom would be in the works
