Got my 2015 buck back. I shot him at 5 yards in October. Unfortunately I was unable to recover the deer as he crossed a fence into a farm I don't have permission to hunt and the landowners don't allow hunting. I did however manage to get permission to shed hunt and I found the buck in February of this year. With 5 days left in our Archery season here in Ohio I was still able to legally tag my buck. I was saddened by the loss of such a Monarch but delighted to have a talented taxidermist to restore the memory.

Good of you to tag him. He is a beauty.

Thank goodness I have a good taxidermist. I didn't give him much to work with. I knew where the buck was heading but it took several visits with the landowners to gain permission to look for him as well as some shed hunting. I was sick for months about it and the day that I walked up on him I got a little teary eyed. I have such respect for these animals. I hated to see him go out that way but was thankful the chapter of our story together was finally complete.

Great story and great buck. I am glad you found him.

I guess if I can say anything guys don't ever give up looking.. I knew how he was hit and even with no blood my gut told me he was fatally hit. I looked for hours which turned into days and weeks looking for him and all I could come up with was one thicket across a fence. I just kept my head and worked on the landowners over a period of time and eventually gained their trust. In the end it was worth it but the months leading up to holding him in my hands was a sick feeling.

Great buck and a beautiful mount. Who did you have do the mount?

Glad you found him! I had one several years ago that I found 9 days after the shot. It really sucked to lose the meat, and to this day I don't know how he went as far as he did????

Great looking mount!
