Ok, I did a search for this, but I have some specific needs that weren't covered.

I'd like a hang on that's 10 lbs. or under, so that pretty much means aluminum. I also want a stand that attaches with a strap, not a ratchet strap, but a simple buckle that pulls tight.

Would also like something with a lower seat ht then seems to be standard.

Looking on **** I found Ameristep makes one or maybe two that might fit the bill, other then the seat ht. What say you TGers, anyone have one that fills those requirements?

Check out xstand expedition. It's 10 lbs it has a bracket that you hang it with that allows you to adjust the stand to hang on leaning trees. Which gives you more options on trees. Plus you could the x-mantis sticks and they weigh in at 10lbs also. So you can have a lite setup that weighs 20lbs total. Look it up on YouTube under  x stand expedition stand. It shows you how easy and secure it is to hang.

I have to admit I don't know what is out there these days.  No reason to. I bought a couple of Locon stands about twenty -twenty five years ago and still use them today.  Yes, sometimes I have to be more selective about which  tree I use.

I use a ladder stand a lot also, just because it is easier for this 63 year old to climb into.

But for mobility, this fall I will take at least one Locon to Canada hunting.  An additional thing I Iike about one of my Locons is that when I stand, the seat automatically folds back to the tree trunk. I can actually lean against the tree for support.

Lonewolf assault 2. Light, quiet, adjustable to lean of tree.

Orion

Agree.  Lone Wolf, though I like the larger version.

When your rating best stands be sure you consider your weight, not just the weight of the stand. A 220 pound weight limit doesn't work for a 250 pound man. Be safe.   :campfire:

No kidding! I have one I acquired in high school and have used it extensively

Longtoke

got an ol'man stand that seems good to me.

Did anyone even read what I asked for? You guys are recommending 13 and 14 lb. stands,or ones that attach with chains.

I'm trying to replace a 9 lb. Loc On that was stolen last year. I still have a Loc On Windwalker that I use a lot, but I need another stand or 2.

I've made my own since the 70's. But, of the few commercial ones I own, I like Lone Wolf's the best.

For your specs, Chippewa Wedge Loc.  Made in USA to boot!

Fletcher, Aren't the Chippewa's set up with chains?

If weight is the only concern, Millenium M7 fits your bill, 8.5 pounds. Of course you would need to carry a strap "receiver" too.

No way I'd give up the size/comfort/ease of my Lone Wolf Alpha II to shed a couple pounds, but something exists you might want to look into.

I love my muddy vantage and the bracket system.  I have like 40 brackets now.

Sounds like you are describing a Lone Wolf. Cast aluminum, simple strap, easy hang, and rock solid. I used one for many years.

The Lone Wolf climbing sticks are great too.

I love Screaming Eagles, they are my favorite stands (think I have 5 or 6 hanging in trees now and my hunting partner has the same number hanging).  However, they will not make your 10# weight limit.  The Lone Wolf Assault is my choice under 10#'s.  Bought one and used it on an out of state hunt last fall and was extremely impressed with it.

Goggle Screaming Eagle if you want a good solid, but heavy, stand, they are still being made in Montana.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.
