I finished last deer season with a self bow that I finished up late in the season. This year I have a few self bows ready to hunt. Turkeys are up to bat first and I would love to hear how you guys are hunting them. Everything from failures to sucess, tactics and tips.    :archer:
This stuff ain't no rocket surgery science!

I have only shot one critter with a selfbow. That was a warthog in Africa, so I'm no help for you with the turkeys.

Good luck!

I'll be after them again this year with a selfbow!  I've drawn down on a longbeard 2 or 3 years ago but let down and told my 14 year old son to take him with his shotgun instead.  It was his first tom.

Good luck out there!  I hope to see some harvest pictures soon.  I have friends in Texas that are chasing birds already.  Here in OK we have to wait until April 6th.

I had a self bow come apart while drawing on a tom a couple of years ago. Don't know if that counts or not....

I have hunted them for years with a selfbow. Although the selfbow adds a challange it has never been the bows fault that I didnt get my bird. I have always run and gun, no blind and a single decoy. I have had lots of birds in my range, and missed more than I want to admit to. Others have spotted movement but I like that challenge over blind hunting. My guess would be out of 5 birds I bring into my range, I will get drawn or a shot off at 1. I like that extra challange. I have located a creek that greens up early and I may try Centaur's method of lying in ambush, sign tells me birds feed along the creek at some point during the day, because the birds have not been gobbling durning the season up in high country I hunt.
Centaur stop by sometime on your snowbird travels and I will set you up with a selfbow that will not come apart on you.
