Finally figured it out.

I've always loved combinations of Bocote and Wenge for custom bow creations. The rich grain of the bacote, the chocolate and copper hues of the two woods just seem to compliment each other nicely.

I had Brian Wessel build the bow in the pic for me 4 or 5 years ago and love the bow. My Tall Tines has darkened over time but when it was new it resembled the pot call in the pic.

I was rigging up a strutting decoy with a wild turkey fan and my bow was a few feet away, when it dawned on me that maybe my fascination with bocote and wenge was due to the similarity of colors and patterns found in the tail fan of North America's greatest game bird.

Nice looking "stuff".

I like the look of the foreshaft of those arrows too.  What wood and stain went into them.

Your fascination surely incorporates some beautiful wood combinations.

What Matty said. That call is a beautiful piece of wood.

Monterey, the shafts are tapered Surewoods.  The stain is several stains I mixed together to get the color I wanted.

Thanks guys

I had Ed Holcomb make me  a 59' Kodiak using Wenge and cocobolo 5 years ago. It's beautiful and one of my favorites...!!!! STELLAR PERFORMER...!!! Those two, along with bacote,  are my bow wood choices as well.....nice stuff..!

Nice Daryl! Can't wait to see a pic of a big gobbler that has fallen to that call, bow, and turkey fan combination.
