Ding! Ding! Ding!

I think we have a winner!!

Rob, I think that's a wonderful idea. It could be put on several, or even all of my  Hill and Hill style bows.

I think that if I were to put a medallion on my bow that expressed sentiments along the lines you've suggested, that bow would have a permanent home with me.

I wonder how difficult it would be to make an in lay of a Howard Hill broadhead. Something small enough to fit on the riser, but still big enough to show the features. Mine would be a cleaned up smaller and shinier version of this.

Craig used an inlay like that on the Howard Hill longbowmen special it looked nice.

I got home today and there was a tag on the door, Pick up package on the 27th from the post office, from HHA...I just missed the mail carrier!! Uhg. I emailed the order 12/6, and it was at my house 12/24. That's fast. It's always fun to see what they do with the order as far as picking everything out. I can't wait to shoot it.

I have always thought that yew on the back and boo on the belly would be a dandy recipe for a limb core however an all-bamboo bow would be more true to the roots of our addiction.  I like Rob's idea - it covers all the bases.

My two cents worth... again.

I'd rather buy a medallion, have it put in or put it in myself, in whatever bow I think merits it based on my own likes and desires.

X2 on that Mr. Mudd!

Rob is very correct on the advice he is giving in regards to bow length. I would try to shoot a 70" if it was possible before ordering. I must say, that all my bows are extremely smooth drawing all the way back to 29, with the 70" Redman, Wesley, and Cheetah.

I've been working all day today, just got home and I,ll be working tommorrow.
My wife and kids bought me this really neat computer tablet. I,m using it right now.  I'm also getting a Jojan multi fletcher, I'm going to have to retire the mono fletcher.

Whatt do you think of a black t-shirt with a picture of Howard Hill drawing. the bow?
Somewhere's we can write a slogan, something like The Classic D- shaped Longbow Gang. It would be affordable.

We can vote on the best picture of Howard and slogan.

there might be the need for a "release" in order to  use an image of howard

no, not "classic D" - that also applies to hybrid mild r/d longbows that brace to a "D" shape.  technically, howard hill style longbows are american flat longbows

a t-shirt is good, but a medallion for a bow would be best, imo.  why not have both?

I want it with my bow no matter what shirt I wear.

I know there are some folks that might think I could possibly change bows more frequently than my shirt but If I have a bow that would warrant a medallion, it would have a permanent home.

To date, there is really only one that fits that category perfectly for me, with another on my judgement scale.

Please don't ask which one(s)until all and by all I mean until all have been judged.

I'll have to wait for my future bows to judge them.

a round medallion coin could be double stick taped, glued or (best yet) inset into the bow's riser by a slight relief drilling of the appropriate sized forstner bit.  in that scenario, the medallion's diameter should match the bit, perhaps 1" diameter and the thickness of a nickel.

Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you all have a great day.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

P.S. There are few more dynamic depictions of Howard Hill than this. I'll bet I could have my old assistant editor do a fine pen and ink of it using the actual photograph, but I think with the right treatment, this would make a fine medallion image.

Swamp Yankee

The words "drill" and "bow" give me shivers.  Along this line though, how does HHA do that extremely fine detail inlay of the Whitetail on their bow?  Mine is so perfect it looks like it was painted on.

rik - looks good!

dan - true wood inlays are an art that their price tags reflect.  there are other methods that look pretty good, but far cheaper.  a round, relatively thin medallion coin is a piece of cake to embed in any wood.
