I would not commit to using their treestands until you have checked them out to make sure they are still safe. Hunting on the ground is still an option. Make sure you are tied in if you hunt from a tree!

I knew it would come up sooner or later, treestands, lol.  I have effectivly used them for years, and love the view from the treestand, but hate the lugging around of the stand and harness(though the vest I use is comfy).  I have like many here taken several game off the ground, though harder can be done.  I feel that if you are going to do it the "Hard Way" then do it off the ground, don't recall seeing Howard in a stand.  Just remember what I told my nephew the other day when stump shooting.  "I don't hunt tree's, I hunt deer".

MikeNova

Hey Rik if you want to ride down to Cola. SC I'll take you hunting too! I've got 10 days of starting the 24th.

Molson

Well for no good reason at all I just bought that 67" 67@26.5 Halfbreed/Croc "The Yellowstone" that has been on the HHA site.  I have been thinking about a 66" string follow but for some reason that bow has been drawing my attention ever since it showed up on there.

So much for me giving up shooting heavier bows!  This one will be the heaviest bow I've had by a couple pounds at my draw. Never owned a gloss finish bow before either so I guess some removable spray camo may be in order! It's brown glass back with bamboo, yew, osage, yew, osage and a white belly.  Strange!!!  Craig said if I didn't like it I could send it back and order up something else so it's worth a try.

Hey Molson, make sure you post pics of that Yellowstone bow when you get it.  I looked at that one a few times on the HHA site.  Way too heavy for me.  Glad someone got it.  Good luck with it.

Ok, can't stand it anymore. Been lurking on here for a month. Bought my first trad bow in 88, Dale Dye recurve and still have and shoot it. Had two wesley Sp.and now shooting a Crocodile 64" 54@26. Shot a few times with Rik when they had trad shoots at Dry Buck and High Valley along time ago. Alot of info here, I've learned alot from everyone here. Great thread.

Yes it has turned really dark, I got the bow just before the NALS in 2004( boy time flys).  Not a PC wiz but I see if I can get some pics up.

cahaba

Thanks Clifford. I have to shoot 300 or more arrows per week to get that kind of accuracy.

G'day Don,

I also would like to see a big mob of photos of a Crocodile - the whole thing as well as close-ups. I haven't seen many Hill Crocodiles, and they keep haunting my dreams.

Cheers,

Ben

Swampthing-

Can you move the bowstring out of the way, and tilt the bow forward just a little to adjust for the light  :biglaugh:

Great looking bow, the finish is outstanding.

Swampthing, that is nice. What is the riser? Is that an osage Hill Crocodile?

San Paolo

I Think it is a Miller Split Bamboo, isn't it?

flint kemper

Ben, yep the REAL deal Miller Split bamboo no glass with a Myrtle riser. Of course the only thing better is a no glass Concave/Convex built by David Miller as well.

Ben Maher

Ben , here you go

Forgive the one up the top ! lol
The osage is the one third from the bottom after a bit of ageing
and here it is brand new , far right

It stands out but ends up a dark rich beautiful colour ... and feels really smooth on the draw ... and becuase of its weight has more "bump"
at the shot compared to yew and 'boo
