Erik,
I'm no expert [and I don't use Stu's calculator], but I would think you're overspined. On all my Hill-style bows my spine weight is usually just a few pounds heavier than the actual draw weight (61# bow/64# spine, 65# bow/68# spine, 72# bow/75# spine). Theses are all cut to 29.25" with 160gr heads. Since your arrows are already finished (cut) I think the only thing you could do is add more weight up front.

I didn't ask, but I'm assuming you draw 26"...?

Erik,Brad is right on.Stus calculator reminds me of the old Easton charts when I shot a lot of aluminums.A good guide, but just that a guide.Everyone shoots differant and every bow is differant. The best arrow for me was the one that shot right from the bow I was shooting no matter what the charts said.
With all the differant shaft materials, spines and weights and point options you've got about a Zillion choices.I've found with wood many times an underspined shaft shoots better,Go figure! LOL
Quote from Howard Hill.( Whenever he taught someone to shoot) "Son make up your mind right now if you want to target shoot or hunt as theres a world of differance between the two"

If they only occasionally wobble or fly loggy, I would say that you are on the brink of being over spined and the softer releases are showing up in the loggy arrow flight.  Tighten up your string and go for a quarter inch higher brace height, see if that fixes it, and watch out for soft releases and short draws.

Yes and YES!

The arrows are hitting pretty much where I want them to hit left to right. It's more of a wobble in flight issue.

I'm thinking brace height may be the culprit.

I love this thread. Lonngbows are just sexy. Going home to read "Sagittarius" again.

Erik, I have a NM Wisper and have found that it does not like overspined arrows. I use the same spine as the bow. 50# bow I will use 50-54 spine arrows.

[QB] I was looking through my pics and saw this one that made me remember one of the very besy "shoot without thinking" shots I`ve ever made. I was about to be in range of a couple of big sows when they winded me and went one way in a hurry. The shoats with them went the other and came by about 20 yards at a steep angle. The Wesley Special put the arrow right where I was looking. RC

Here is a pic of a Toelke Super D I had a short while. It was a fine bow but 64" long was to short for me.RC

Fat Buffalo Swamp porker killed near 4 miles from the truck. Some fine south Ga. Public land.I shot this pig under 5 yards.Boned him out and got back to camp and Brother John was there grilling back straps from a porker he killed as well. Good times.RC

RC-
That looks like a good one. I can't wait to get in the woods, our season in S. Florida starts at the end of August. In GA. can you hunt hogs all year long on Public land?

alot of old timer Hill style bowyer names have been thrown around on this thread...one that hasn't is Bobby Lofton....a real gentleman from down south who isn't with us anymore.....I'm a casual email friend with Floyd Oakes from Bobby's neck of the woods and he sends me photos from time to time....I just had to add this photo....it's got a cool, retro feel....camo and longbows...and a deer that Bobby shot dead center from a very long way away.  I remember talking to Bobby a few weeks after he shot it and he downplayed the shot in his usual fashion.  He built an awful lot of bows back in the 80s and 90s and helped alot of people experience shooting longbows before they were 'cool'......

Thats a cool picture Nate, Which is Bobby? and are them both Lofton bows? They look nice. I have only ever seen his R/D bows.

Floyd's on the left,  Bobby's on the right.

Bobby's bows fed my flame back around '89 & '90

Most of Bobby's bows were Hill style...Floyd made/makes his own most of the time
