Just wondering if anyone ever makes a pre-season trail to get deer moving in the area you will hunt?
Maybe applying scent to a rag and dragging it on a man made trail past your set up.

I was thinking about trying it next year to see if it works.

I feel any alteration to the area close to the beginning of the season is mistake, I go in toward the end of summer find some areas with nice cover ,trails, funnels and such and pick a tree(or blind location). clear shooting lanes, and clear a nice path to enter on so it is free of trip factors and branches that will beat you up in the dark. then at least a month before the season I am out of the area and I dont go back till opening day. Thats Just me, deer in my area are very skiddish toward humans and unfamiliar scents .

a few tips, early season hunt around water, late season hunt around a food source.

I cut my trail into stands and the deer use them more than I do
Try to be the person your dog thinks you are :0)

Deer will take the easiest route if they feel safe. Usually they walk right down roads cut with the tractor where I hunt.

Getting in early like during the summer or spring will help them get used to it plenty before the season.
Relax,
