Thanks for the response!  I believe I have all the testers I can handle now.  Honestly I don't know if I will have enough material to cover everyone that responded, but we'll see.  I should have it late this week or early next week, and hope to get started on the test strings next week, after some initial tinkering myself.

I should have said this earlier, but I forgot.

This material is brand new--to me and everyone else.  I don't expect the same thing to happen as with PENN 66/B-75, but I can't promise.  I can't accept responsibility if you have a string break without warning.  I'm going to check it out as best I can before I send out any test strings, but I can't promise anything.  If you are bothered by this, just send me an e-mail to take your name off the list.

All I ask in return is an honest report.  How much stretch/creep, noise (more/less/same), hand shock, durability, etc. etc. etc.  I don't mean shoot two dozen arrows with it, send me a few comments, and you are done.  I want to hear initial impressions, but also how it works in the long haul, or after a few thousand arrows.

Again, thanks for the response, and hopefully we'll get this thing going soon.

dang...I've been using b50 for a LONGGGGG time with no problems.

i remember a B-66 (i still have a partial spool of it, too) guess it had it's problems is why i couldn't get more of it...
i was told by a sales person, when purchasing an out-of-date newpaper that it was out-of-date...

i told her "i've been told i'm out-of-date, too"...

does that mean i'm up-to-date?

I'm hoping this new material will fix, or at least reduce, my main gripe with B-50 or B-500---way too much stretch/creep.  I could get by with it if I had to, like I could get by with a mule instead of my truck if I had to, but.......you get my point.

I really like B-50 on my recurves (like the soft feel of dacron on my fingers and ease of getting bow quiet) and for some reason don't seem to have too much problem with creep or stretch.

Granted I only shoot bows in the 45# to 50# range, but have had good luck with 14 strands B-50 made endless loop.  Maybe it's the way I break them in, but I even leave them strung (hung horizontally by the string on two pegs) and they pretty well stay locked at the proper brace height.  I just measured my Predator which has been hanging here for months and brace is right where I left it at 7.5".

Granted, if I lived/hunted in high humidity and temps above 60 deg a lot I bet my experience would be different.  Ever hear of places with climates like that, Chad?    :D

Man........you are killing me!  When I used to shoot dacron, even on bows under 50#, I had to constantly check and adjust the brace.  On the 82# I used to shoot, it was awful.  90+ degree weather will do that......

Grant Young

I have to agree Chad- even in early June in Canada- which isn't nearly 90 degrees- I have to check and adjust my brace ht. almost daily. Plus, right or wrong, I'm scared to death of fast flight; my bows are all forty years old or older. I sure hope this stuff pans out.  Grant

if ya goof and twist one up too short...say 47 actual.....ya can send it my way   :D

cant wait to hear some feedback on it. Gonna be offered in the usual b50 colors?

LBR

As far as I know it will be offered in all the standard BCY colors.  Hopefully it will get here this week so I can start tinkering.

I only have B50 on one bow, a Schafer and do not have any problems with creep/streach. When I put a new string on I leave the bow strung until it stops streaching, reset the brace periodically during this time, then when it stops streaching I shoot 100 or so arrows and check it, if need be I reset the brace and am good to go from there, normally once I reset it after leaving it strung I do not have to adjust again and I live in high humidity and heat here in the tropics.

Danny, that is basically what I do too.  I put the string on the bow with NO twists and let it stretch a couple days.  I will pull it back and shoot it a bit also during that time.

Then, after it has stretched out and "set", I will twist it to proper brace and it pretty much stays put.  I also think endless loop makes a difference too.

Chad, I think I will stick with the B50 until you get the B55 tested and are satisfied with the results. I agree with Danny and pretty much do the same thing he does with new strings and that takes care of the stretch and creep problem.

Bjorn

Hi Chad, I have a 70" Bear recurve that needs a new string. I would like to be a tester for that material. Thanks, Bjorn
