David,

Thanks!  was you a surface skimmer, a submariner, an airdale or a supply side sailor?

I retired in January 1992 and was a surface skimmer.

Black shoe.  In the beginning... carriers, and subtenders, and then... other places.

My rate was "GMT" and then ... with the nice, gentler world we now live in.. we moved to a nicer term "WT".  Same job, but different title.

Honestly, I don't miss the Navy; however, I do appreciate what the Navy taught me about me... and, or course, the retirement check.

Best wishes on the bow.... it's a shooter.

I picked the Black Feather up Saturday and shot it for about 45 minutes.  It shoots very accurately, very smoothly and very quietly like all of the Black Feathers I have owned and/or shot.  And it id definitely the best looking Black Feather I've had the privilege of holding in my hands to boot!

Then I shot a Hill style longbow for a bowyer friend of mine.  He had built the bow for someone in the area.  The fella brought it back to him and the upper limb was delaminated.  He took the bow apart and then glued it back together again.  He told me he wasn't strong enough to shoot, he's 85 now, to shoot it himself so he asked me to shoot it for him.

I shot the bow 6 times.  I was at or near full draw for the 7th shot when the bow delaminated again on the upper limb on the belly side of the limb.  I dropped the bow when I felt it bite my bow hand.  I didn't realize it had delaminated until I looked down at it laying on the floor.  It bloodied up the web of my hand between my thumb and my index finger on my left hand.  There wasn't nearly as much damage as all of the blood led me to believe.  Needless to say, I didn't shoot my bow anymore.   When my bowyer friend told me he was going to take the bow home and get it glued up again, I said "That's fine, just don't ask me to blewed it up again!!"   :)

Dang,  i had to go back and re-read your last post 3 times,  not enough coffee in me yet.... I had thought your BF delaminated and was a bit bummed out, for you and for me.

Post some pics of your Crow Creek when you get time,   I was about 1/2 second from buying that bow myself.

Matt,

I'll take some pics of the Black Feather and post them after I receive it back from Elmer.  I like the rough finish he applies to some of his bows and he's going to refinish this bow for me using that style finish.

Sorry about the confusion over the BF and the Hill style longbow.  I really would have been bummed had it delaminated on me.  But at least it would have been a 3 piece and I would know who to have build another set for me!  :)
