I consider my compound a tool as well. I had to use that tool when O had shoulder surgery and if the need arises I'll use it again because being out there is primary for me. The tools I use are secondary but I like some tools over others. It's longbows 1st then 2ndly recurves,(wood on wood or wood and glass) then comes the self bows.

It's a very personal choice made by each person who hand is put to the string.

It's my handle...... don't wear it out, haha !

We too ditched the cams, wheels, and any other stuff associated with technology several years ago and have never even thought of looking back. Nothing wrong with em, just not for us.

I recently sold my compound just to focus strictly on my stick bows.So far no regrets,I'm having a blast working on my form and shooting.

I went back to trad gear last year, having a ball. I love all aspects of archery " to each their own " on how you hunt with a string. But I don't see going back for myself until I can't pull a bow back anymore. Gave away my last compound to one in need last week, just couldn't get them to take the LB.

The local archery shop had nothing BUT compounds!
When I brought in my TD LB I was asked why I didn't get a compound.

I proceeded to break it down into a small package, then put it back together, in tune, in about 5 minutes. All with an allen wrench and a stringer.

Challenged him to do the same with his compound.    :saywhat:        :biglaugh:

I love the simplicity of the LB (nothing against recurves-love their simplicity too. Personal preference.), basically a stick and a string, and the TD feature makes it very transportable.
If something seems too good to be true it's best to shoot it, just in case. ... Fiona on "Burn Notice"

I started shooting a recurve about a year and a half ago and I love it.  BUT...I have not switched to it yet from my compound for hunting.  I'm sure someday I'll get over that feeling that as soon as I take the recurve out on opening day, I'll have a SLAMMER broadside at 40 yards.

When I'm absolutely confident that I will cleanly kill out to 20-25 yards, I will likely make the switch.  Recurves and longbows to me are just way more fun to shoot.  And if something goes wrong there isn't much equipment to blame.
