I suck at sharpening a 3 blade, so I went to Magnus Stinger, then to Zwicky Eskimos. Since switching to wood arrows, it's Zwickey only now.

Woodies get Zwickeys.  Carbons get the Grizzlies.

One store had 4-blade Eskilites for less than $20 for a 6-pack.  If I run across the regular Eskimos for that price, I'm grabbing some.

I recently got some NAP HellRazors
very sharp out of the pack

Little touch up and I can shave with them.
Never been able to sharpen any other three blade as well or easy as these.

Zwickey's are hard to beat. I have taken numerous whitetails with 2 blade Zwickey Delta's but this year I will have my woodies tipped with Simmons Tiger Sharks for the first time. But you will never have the quality for the price of Zwickey's, been around since 1938 for good reason.

I haven't purchased any broadheads since the mid 90's.  I have enough Zwickeys, both eskimos and deltas along with Snuffers  and Bear razorheads to do me several lifetimes.  I'm primarily a whitetail hunter with an elk thrown in.  Never could see paying $10 or more per broadhead. JMHO
If it isn't life or death, it's no big deal.

I hunt with Cutthroat heads. 250 grain for my Centaur and 200 grain for my Bear 59K and Patriot. I think the cost of the head is a very small part when it comes to a trophy buck or any animal for that matter.

Almost any broadhead will take game. There are so many good heads on the market to choose from. And--I have tried many--too many of them. Now I'm done searching for the perfect broadhead.Cutthroat 250s are what I use, also. Great head, expensive, but worth every penny. It's a 1-piece head that's easy to sharpen, and has a "life time" guarantee. Just don't lose them and you will be glad you have them in your quiver.

Thanks again to one and all for posting your broadhead preferences and experiences. Lots of great information!!!

There are quite a few very capable broadheads available for 5 bucks a head or a bit less.  Zwickey, Tusker, Ace all come to mind.  Woodsmans are a favorite but will run you more like 7 bucks a head.

Jumping to 10-15 bucks a head gets you some real interesting high quality heads like VPA or Simmons Sharks.  That's about my personal comfort threshold right there.

To each as own, a lot is personal preference.  I am just as confident on stand with a Tusker as I am a VPA, it's just as much about my mood as anything.

When it all comes to and end you are relying on the Broadhead to do its job and inflict this lethal wound.  If I am going to skimp on something it would not be the broadhead.  That being said I like the magnus for its quality and value.

Zwickey delta's are hard to beat and their hardness over time is consistent. I had some hardness tested one was a new delta, one was a 15 year of delta and one was a 30+year old Eskimo. They all hardness tested within 2 points of each other. [47-49]
If you feel the need for more penetration, get the no mercy Zwickey. It has a longer, narrower ratio than the delta.

Lots of good broadheads avaialable for far less than the $30 per head you mentioned....which is ridiculous in my opinion.

If money a big concern...I would have no issue going back to a Zwickey head design....nuff said.

My preferences over the years have changed a little but stayed pretty true....

3 blades- started with Snuffers but now the Grizzly Instinct.  Just use them for turkeys...

2 blades- Ribteks are my favorites for easy mounting, sharpening and flight true and being very robust.  I bought a bunch so have a few years quantity remaining.  I also am very happy with results of Grizzly Kodiaks as well....   When my Ribteks are all gone and lost...my double bevel head will likely be Tuffhead.

Grizzlys are my number 1 choice and zwickeys are second.  I find I can get the single bevel sharper.

I'm like Doc, haven't had to buy broadheads for some time. I shoot only Bear  razorheads and have more than enough to last me a life time. Great heads......easy to sharpen and fly great.

I like zwickeys and green bear razorheads. In a three blade I'm fond of the big 160 grain snuffers. There are so many great heads available and I think for everyday hunting any of them will get the job done if the head is sharp and put in the right place. I almost wonder sometimes if we have too many choices.......naaaahhhh!!!!!
