Aluminum is the most consistent arrow shaft on the planet, shaft to shaft.
I love good tapered wood too but aluminum is durable unless you are shootin thin wall shafts.
I,ve played with carbon some but I damaged more carbon shafts than I have aluminum.

I got the arrows in from Kip.  I am assuming I need to get me a little stiffer spine.  I'm not sure why, but I seem to always need a stiffer than usual spine.

I am going to try to get my hands on some 2117's and then go from there.
My Kanati is 54# @ 28" I pull 29". One would think I could shoot a 2117 but I always need a stiffer spine. I had to go all the way to a 2219 with a 150 grn head and I get really good flight.

I shot my first whitetail with cedar arrow but switched to aluminum shortly after and have stayed with aluminum xx75s. I did just recently buy a dozen carbons & I'll finally get to tune & cut them to length tomorrow.

Wish I could find some of those old 2216 Jim Doughtery super naturals.

I have shot only aluminum or wood for 40 years, Never saw a reason to leave them. Right now I'm using 2020's out of my 57 lb recurve and 2016's out of my 54lb longbow both with 175 gr upfront and at 28"   I watch my buddies messing with carbons trying to get the weight up or get them tuned , I just want what works keeping things as simple as possible. For me that's aluminum

I haven't shot aluminum in 27 years and have never shot a carbon arrow. I shot aluminum when I shot a compound bc,(before carbon). I have only shot wood since I went back to traditional.

I like aluminum.  Unfortunately the dozen and a half XX75 2117 I have are now too weak for my new limbs, especially with the Zwickey Deltas I was using..
Now looking for a XX75 2216 to try.
A bit heavy, but the bow I shoot really sucks up the extra weight without a lot of lost speed.
