The generosity of Trad Gang is evident almost everyday. I wanted to single out David who responded to a post I put up on the classifieds several weeks back looking for a inexpensive bow to help out my father-in-law (Gary Norris).  I wanted to try out an assistive device that will help Gary continue to shoot traditional even though he had three surgeries on his shoulders.  The last of which is a total shoulder replacement.

David offered up and American Archery recurve for free.  It has turned out perfect especially after I reduced the limb twist he told me about by using the hot water method promoted in several post in the archives.

After teaching me to shoot traditional over 12 years ago,  I was after to repay the favor by putting a bow back into Gary's hands that he can shoot again. Gary has had a 4 year lay off from any significant shooting or hunting, but I belive Gary will be shooting again this spring. Who knows he might even kill a deer.  Heck even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

Kudos to David for his generosity with the gift of the bow, and also to you bro for putting this all together.

Each time we venture out into the woods, we bring our life story with us.  Sometimes when life throws you a curve, it is a blessing when friends come together to help a person through it.  I have a feeling this entire gift is going to keep on giving back.

Gary, we're going to hold you to it.  Lets warm up with some turkeys and put the icing on the cake next fall.  Can't wait!

The rumor has always been "you'll go blind if you keep doing that." But Gary never got a chance to test that theory because his shoulder was the weak point.  :saywhat:

David, thank you for your generous gift now we get to see if the heckler is all talk or can he really shoot.   :bigsmyl:  beside a turkey and deer would be great, but I'm a little to impatient to wait for that. The first order of business (to see if you still have what it takes) needs to be a hog hunt. Looking forward to sharing another camp with you buddy!  :campfire:

Thanks for the kind words all, I am just happy to be able to help Chris and Gary.  I would love to see follow up pics with Gary and an animal, but I have to tell you that a smile came to my face last night when Chris sent me pictures of Gary shooting the bow.  That put the finishing touches on a pretty good weekend for me......(a couple of hours earlier my daughter had scored the winning basket in a double overtime game and our High School won state championships in hockey and boys basketball this weekend.)

Hey Gary.......it ain't trash talk if you back it up  :readit:

Met David on a couple of the JLMB hunts, he was always helping out and there to support Shawn and Cindy. Good Guy.

David is one of the good ones! Good guys seem to meet up somehow. Met him first via my good friend Jeff Holchin. You won't meet better people.

You think he is helpful and generous to the adults, you should see him when he is around kids.

Three of my kids are still shooting some arrows David gave them 4 years ago. Tyler can now bust brush without bleeding too much thanks to some very nice brush pants provided by David.

I guarantee I could call David and tell him I needed help with something and he'd be in the truck and on the way within minutes!

They just don't get any better!
