Hello,
I have recently acquired a Bama hunter 27@55#
Nate suggested 3555 Gold tip traditional.
Has anyone had success running with carbons or could I go with pine/cedar arrows and just build them instead?

Sorry if it's a stupid question but the Carbons are so much more expensive $$$..

It's a personal preference thing.  I shoot carbons out of my Bama and they work very well.  They are pricey but they are pretty durable as well.  Nate is right a GT 3555 should be tunable out of your bow if you are drawing the 27".  You can also find a wood or aluminum that would tune so it is all a matter of what you want to shoot.  Good luck...Shawn

Welcome to Tradgang!
If you're just startin' out, I think you'll find the carbons easier to work with (tuning wise) to get your arrows to "hit where you're lookin'".

If this was easy, everyone would be doin' it!

Good cedar shafts are pretty pricey these days, too.
I have always been a wood lover, but, I have switched to carbon because I love how easy and simple they are to build, tune, and shoot.

Thanks you all for the help, I think I will get the 3555 carbons and work with those.

Thanks again!

You might do well to order some different weight screw-in field points when you get your arrows and perhaps some 50 or 100grain brass screw-inserts, too, then you'll have plenty of options for varying tip weight to get them to fly well for you.  Post back if you need add'l help or details.
