From a 14' python from 1954. Stashed in a cardboard tube from an estate sale. Most of the skin was moldy,cracked. But I salvaged enough for my youngest's bow.

What is the average price to have someone skin a bow?

I couldn't find anyone handy so decided to do it myself.  I am just finishing up the job on my limbs.  I just have a few finish coats to add.  It really isn't very hard to do.  There is a tutorial in the "How To" Forum.  I was able to buy skins off of the classified section on Bow Making supplies here.

A lot of people use the snake skins for camo but a word of caution if using a bow with exposed snake skins for turkey hunting.  A friend of mine who is an experienced turkey hunter was using a self bow with snake skins and the turkey went into a complete alarm on more than one occasion while he was hunting on the ground.  When he covered the limbs, no more alarms.

Something think about.

I have wondered about that.

Most you see here ARE real BUT ... if advertised in the classifieds be sure and ask the question. I didn't and got a nice bow, advertised with skins, but actually had vinyl stick-ons. Needless to say I was quite disappointed. Kept the bow though and sold it later.

Great looking bows, guys. love the skins and will someday have at least one done.
