I'm with KentuckyTJ. I just want spring to get here. Still have so much snow left and plenty of time for more. Have been snowed on in the turkey woods during May here before. Have been getting ready for the birds though. Good luck to all.

Hoyt

Went behind the house and heard about 5 gobble from the roost yesterday at 6:00pm. Southern Illinois.

Hope there's turkeys still alive to hunt this year. Still lots of snow but warmer temps are predicted this week. Three straight years of lots of snow and cold temps have taken it's toll on the turks in wis. and the upper midwest. It really amazes me how tough these birds can be. I did see a flock of 10 jakes the other day,so that is a good sign. Good luck to you guys!

Clocks moved forward yesterday.  I have not heard a gobble yet this spring in Arkansas but Monday could be the day.  I am ready.

I glassed a flock of about 20 birds about 4days ago.Never spring turkey hunted before with a bow so I'm excited.

Spectre

I am very, very excited. This warm spell should have them moving around pretty good.

daughter has a gobber at her place strutting and gobbling...but out at my hunting lease I have not heard anything other than about 10 hens cutting it up every morning and night in green field.  Usually about 5-6 mature toms and as many jakes in area but not seen them this weekend.  With that much turkey tail in one spot every morning and night they are bound to find their way back...  :p

this year I am using a bow made from a piece of vine maple a guy sent me from Washington State back in 2001 to try as I had just started a hickory flatbow...my first.  9-11 happened and I spent next 3 years in various hell holes...and never finished hickory or started other so this Summer I sent the vine maple to John Strunk and told him to use it if he could as it was just sitting on top of shelf at my house and being wasted.

Month later he sends me a pic of bow he made out of it....and told me it was mine if I wanted it.  Not for free now...but for his labor and skill for sure.  I wasnt going to do it but wife said GO AHEAD...
So that vine maple bow is my turkey bow this Spring....55@28, 66" long, about 1.5" string follow....but shoots like a dream.  Found arrow and head combo that worked on her...and hopefully she will make blood over the next month.
Season opens 15 March.....  :D     :D
