Can ya help me win this argument....A picture would help. I remember Jack Howard expoxing injector razor blades to his broadheads.

I say he used Bodkins...the "other" guy sez MA3. Please help settle this...Thanks

Joe....I have the kit here...it was 4 blades....at least the ones I have are.

Not sure if that helps...but I have one complete from Jack...and several he pre-ground ready to be glued I can post of pic of if you like.

You may both be right!! Jack was forced to use several different brands of broadheads over the years do to businesses failing and such.

I do know he preferred long and lean as far as design goes. At one point he was using the Black Copperhead Slicer (4 blade). He really liked one of the cookie cutter type heads (maybe the Traileze). He removed the cutting ring.

I have a Woodsman that Jack glued blades to. Shot a few critters with one just like it that I made up....wicked!! The Woodsman wasn't a "great" platform for his blades due to the vents.

He may have used injector blades (you realize none of the young guys know what those are?), but he supplied "Pal" single edge blades with the kit that he sold.

I was very impressed by the pile of lung blood on the doe.
       

This hog didn't go far but blood trail was poor due to shot angle. Arrow backed out a little.

I imagine Jack experimented with different heads for glueing on blades but he actually manufacturered his own for sale, as well as pre-cut blades and clamps for assembling.

 


 

I didn't know he offered a 4 blade, knew of the 3 blade head because I had a few conversations with Jack about shooting cock feather in. Thank you everyone for the info. I'm still kicking myself for selling my Jet back in '94.      

In the early to mid-1970's I was part of a group of bowhunters who used to expoxy injector type razor blades to MA-3 broadheads.

It seemed to be a common practice at that time.

Jack always said that you should never lose an animal hit with his razor blade head.

i still have a schick injector razor that i use. have to get blades for it off amazon; can't find them anywhere else!!

A very good friend,used to have a huge broadhead collection.I knew there was a broadhead designed to take these blades.I did not know that other existing broadheads were modified to take razor blades.A good bit of info.!Thanks for the picture.Even if it did not pop up.  :D

I finally through mine away because I couldn't find the injectors any more.

I just bought a ton off the internet for some double edge injector style for "cutters" we got for plastic film.

I think I got a 100 for around $10. Do a google search!

Made and used them for several years.  Two friends and I used High Precision 3 blade heads and ground them down - bringing them back to size with the razor blades.  I later used the 4 blade Copperhead.  We didn't use injector blades, but single edge razor blades - the really old style - but they were heavier and stronger than the injector blades. Using sheet metal pliers we would place the blade at an angle (like shown in Tom's pic) then strike the portion protruding on the garage floor - snapping the blade.  How we never got a piece of steel in the eye I'll never know.  Once the blades were cleaned a light coat of PlioBond was applied to the head and blade they were clamped with binder clamps and placed in the oven - set on low - for a couple hours.  This was to cure the glue.  A lot of work, but still probably the most deadly head I've ever used.

Jack also sold the 003 head in the early '70's.I sold some with several packs of blades,about a year ago.These three blades had about a 1/2" pocket at the rear of each blade for the razor blade.The blades came in a long stick of,I think,6 which was scored and you snapped off the individual blades and installed them in the pocket of the main blade.I've looked but I evidently lost my pictures of them.Anybody have a picture?

Amongst my junk,there are still a few pieces of razor blades cut to fit on 3 blades as per Jack's instructions.

The "Little Shaver" 2 blade that took the injector blades was around before that but I think Jack liked multiple blades.

Jim Dougherty had the 003 broadheads. 3 blade head with small pockets to accept the razors. I tried some but could never get them to fly plus trying to sharpen the front end was a bear.

 

 

Shick injectors are still around....just not real often locally for me.
