Tried searching around and maybe didn't use the correct search keywords but I am trying to find some guiding on how to use real turkey feathers for fletchings.

I did find the how to portion with the goose feathers. When using turkey feather do you follow the same steps?

Just seems like a cool idea to have your own birds feathers on your arrows.

If the mods don't mind me posting one of my own videos, I made this video especially for this reason. You may find it helpful, or you may not?
I walk the viewer through processing their own turkey feathers and show how "I do it" and while some might have better or different ways, this is what works for me and mine turn out very nice. I've been shooting them almost exclusively since last year.
If the mods want to remove my video link, I completely understand but it's only to help others and not to promote anything.

thanks great video. You can use a straight  jo jan clamp . I made a feather burner back before I new you could by such stuff the little chopper is great and I don't miss the smell of burnt feathers. thanks again.

Your quite welcome guys, and I've already done the same thing Slinger. I've got 2 buddies and my brother saving the wing feathers for me off their gobblers this year. I hope they all have a bonus year and get 2 a piece!  

I have made my own turkey feathers and fletchings for several years.  However, I found "stringstretcher" here on this site.  Just send him your feathers and in a couple weeks you will have the nicest feathers you will ever see.  I enjoyed doing them myself, but never got the quality that Charlie produces.  Check him out.

I have seen some of the stuff stringstretcher has has made on here but to start off I really want to try to make some myself. Just gonna give it a whirl and see what happens.

Gene- I agree that Charlie (stringstretcher) does an awesome job and he's an awesome guy, no doubt about that. I don't intend to take away anything from his work, just wanted to help others learn how to do things themselves if they decide to take matters into their own hands.

Personally I just can't afford to pay other people to do things for me that I know I can do myself. In order to keep the cost of persuing my passions down to an affordable level, guys like me absolutely must find ways to get creative.
Paying someone else to do my work for me just isn't an option if I want to continue with the sport.

For the guys who "Can" afford to......I highly recommend Stringstretcher for the job.    

For those like me who "Can't" afford much, then I hope my video helps take a little bit off the learning curve, good luck!

Great video Semo.  And believe it or not that is just how I started.  It can become addicting, so be carefull, you might go into full production.

Not me, I'll leave that part up to you.
I'm only interested in taking care of myself, unless I get way more than I need then I'll use them as bartering goods.      
I'm kinda funny that way, I enjoy doing it for myself and it's fun, but when it becomes a job it's not fun anymore and I tend to do less of it. Building bows is the same way, that's why I don't take orders for them. I only build when the need to create something strikes me.

Besides, I'd have a hard time living up to your high quality standards. Keep up the good work because you do it very well.
