was wondering how they shoot ,and what draw you have ,i have a 28" draw ,and i know some bowyers that can make a short recurve that doesnt stack or finger pinch and was just asking around.

Primitivealltheway,

I don't shoot a 54". But I saw that no one had replied to your post, so I thought I would.

I shoot a 56" Bob Lee recurve and my draw is between 27.5-28". No stacking. No finger pinch.

I love my Bob Lee.

I shot a dark archer about a year ago. Nice bow. My bow is a take down.

I would go with the 56" my 54 was just on the short side for me the 56" is much better.

I found a good enough deal on a used Bob Lee 54" 40# bow that I bought one more or less on spec, thinking that it would be a good bow for my wife or grandchildren's hopefully future interest in shooting.  I never thought I would really enjoy shooting it myself, but I liked it so well that I shot it in a 3D meet just to see how I would do.  My draw length is 28".

Mine is one-piece, and while I haven't shot the takedown 54", my belief is that if you're going to be drawing the bow to the max, you're probably going to get a little more out leeway of the one-piece than you would a takedown.

It could be that one of the reasons I find this bow such a pleasure to shoot is because of its light draw-weight.  I also think you would feel things like finger pinch more in a heavier weight bow than in a lightweight bow.

So even though my hope is that one of the grandchildren picks up on this bow, even if they don't, I have a bow I enjoy shooting myself, although not for my primary bow.

Nice bows but I would look at the RER Arroyo, I have shot the Lee 54"er and after 28"s she starts to pinch and also started to stack at 29"s. The 54" Arroyo is smooth out to 30"s and a better performer as well. Shawn
