I've got some broadheads left from my wheel bow days and I was wondering how they might work for turkeys with my Trad Bows? I hunt rabbits and squirrels using my longbow and they work great but I have never taken a turkey with Trad equipment. What do you think?

I've got a few dozen Montecs and a dozen and a half Sonics?

Those should work just fine.  Avoid hitting the wing joint if you can. That part of a turkey can really slow down an arrow.

I wouldn't hesitate to use either. If I was forced to choose one it would probably be the montec just because of the less steep angle but both should do fine.
This stuff ain't no rocket surgery science!

Thanks, just looking for another way to recycle  :)

Both BH's should work with a well designed arrow and good shot placement.

Please take no offense...just my personal quirk when it comes to turkeys since they are my specialized quarry. Sale them and go with a large snuffer or in my case the Big 3's. The Big 3's will have at least a 33% slash factor advantage over the Montec or Sonics. Turkeys continue to be a great challenge for me and I want every advantage possible.

No offense taken Friend  :)

I may still sell them or keep them for small game. They both shoot like darts from my 45# TC. Jim's giant won't work for me due to its weight and my light draw. I shoot single blades Helix, Magnus, Silverflame and Abowyer most of the time. We will see  :)

Thank you for your thoughts...

Go big and heavy.  And I disagree about the wing but, you put one there and they go down, guess where the vitals of a turkey are located.  Listen to Friend, sounds like he has done this before.  RW

Kip, My 1st turkey with a bow, I used a 300 grain BH(3yrs ago). Blew up the shoulder wing bone, both sides. Arrow didn't pass though.(46# @ 26").Turkey didn't get 5 yrds. Got it on video.... This last November 300 grains, turkey never knew it was his, walked 10 yrds and flopped over dead..(46# @ 26")..
Blowup the wings or both legs, that will take some power.Or if you can hit him in the eye. You will ahve your turkey..

Friend

coaster500 - You may wish to consider testing a 600 spine with the 300 + insert up front.

You may possibly be pleasantly surprised.

Just got off work.

Thank you for all your replys  :)

Jim I bought a little over three dozen in a package deal quite fews years ago. I've been using them on small game.

Bob, Friend, RW maybe I will rethink this a bit. Terrible situation I'll have to dress up some new arrows  :)  I have some 1535, 3555 and 5575 GT trads from Jim. Maybe I'll save the Montec and Sonics for daintier stuff  :)

PS .... I'm working on hitting them in the eye but I can't get my turkey target to stand still !!
