Slinging 24/7

Hi guys,

Still kinda new to the stick and strang world and am very excited to go stumping with the snow starts to decline and I am able to make it into the woods.

Question I have is what kinds of points do you guys like to use? Just field tips, blunts, judos, or out of the box stuff?

Thanks

excelpoint

If its just purely for Stumping then the Old Judo is a great point but if you may be also chasing a bit of small game then I would suggest something like Ace Hex heads or SGH. Much better for taking small game and pretty good as a stumping head as well.

I use rubber blunts. They don't get stuck in the stumps & they bounce so it's easier to find the arrows on missed shots. (or so ice heard)

Rubber blunts are great ,field tips, flat head blunts, but judos always break the little tines and cant stand spending the  money on them for shooten stumps.Even a 38cal shell casing will work for stumps.

Ace Hex are my favourite, followed by the plain-Jane steel round blunts. I'm not that keen on Judos, as they bend to easily. Our stumps are pretty tough, though.

I've always used Judos without any problems. I guess I'm just particular on which stumps I shoot because I've yet to tear a Judo up.

Judos or homemade judos. You can find them in the archives. Virtually unloseable.

I shot Judos for for years.

Last year I bougt some heads called "The Hammer" from 3 rivers last year and I am hooked.

They are cheaper than judos and don't bend or get tore up. I shoot the 145's out of my 60# bow 500 grain arrows and the 200's out of a 66# bow with 610 grain arrow.

A judo is great around grass or leaves and will keep you arrow from burying.  I've used the same two for 35+ years and they still are working.  For shooting into actual stumps I'll use a blunt.  So I carry both.

Stumpkiller

Plain cylindrical blunts mostly.  I like the Ace Hex and the best multi-purpose blunt/small-game/stump head I have is the PDP GameNabber.  Lots cheaper than a Judo.

Plain old steel blunts is all I use any more.  Easy out of the back quiver and cheaper than about anything else.

I had the same 2 judo's for longer than I can remember. Just recently bought a couple new ones. They are very tough and they don't bury up like other heads. JMHO! Jason

Thanks guys I appreciate all of the input. Sounds like the first time I head out I am gonna have a mixed bag of tips. I already have a lot of judos that I got in an auction but sounds like I am gonna pick up some blunt tips and other stuff to try.

OntarioBirdhunter

I have found that judos are terrible for most stump shooting, they bury themselves and then the grass catcher bends and actually makes removal more difficult. I am going to try the metal blunts mentioned
