Has anyone used or planned to use a product by PAW'D UP?

http://www.pawdup.com

It looks interesting and wonder if there are any of you using. I have a hog problem and this may be the way to go.  Hogs keep jacking up my Trophy Rocks.  AARRGGHH!!

I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Something is wrong with the link. If you have a hog problem invite Terry and some others to exterminate them.   :goldtooth:   As far as commercially bought (one bag has it all type) products,I would not buy them. If you do a little research you could buy 50# bags of various minerals and dried molasses for a lot cheaper and have way more product to put out. Tractor Supply Co. Has a ton of minerals. All you have to do is rough up the ground and mix it in.
Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a
difference in the world, but the Marines don't have that problem.

Google "deer mineral lick".  You'll get a recipe for 200 lbs for about 50 bucks.  I haven't googled that for about 2 years, so let me know if it doesn't work I have the recipe.

Mix
1 part Dicalcium Phosphate
1part Livestock Rock Salt
2 parts Trace Mineral Salt

You buy these in 50# bags at the local feed store.

I use a 3# coffee can to measure parts. Don't mix til ready to dump.  Use shovel to turn dirt over after u dump it out!!
Official Measurer for Boone and Crockett, Pope and Young, Compton's, Longhunters, and both Mo books.  Have tape, will travel!!!

I have heard of people using water softener tablets to create artificail mineral licks, never tried it myself however. We can buy 25-50# bags for less than a 1$ CDN a #. Might be worth looking into.

I have found different areas have better results than others. A self applied mineral lick in northern Maine was destroyed by deer and moose. The SAME mineral was put down in southern New York and the deer passed by without even looking at it.

Name brand stuff is big $$$$ as said here.  You can make it for pennies on the dollar. Just dont be too negative if it doesn't bring too much attention. It may work great somewhere else.

X2. We always put them in a depression or moist spot and dig up the soils about 8" down in a 3-4' area. Mix the mix into the dirt and replenish them every few years.

Does the mineral lick attract? I know the brand I was referring too has an additive for attracting??  Is it needed?

Careful with putting them down in NY. I believe it is illegal.
