Footage from 2010 TANJ annual pheasant hunt.  Filmed by my ten year old son.  You can hear how excited he gets when his dad makes a shot.  In the
first clip, if you listen carefully, you can hear that I get a piece of the bird  On the second bird, the archer to my left (Ron) actually makes
a pretty good shot .  His arrow passes thru the tail of the bird.  My arrow follows right behind and slices the bird open which takes it down inst
antly.  In bow hunting for pheasant there are some shot angles that are tougher than others (ie/ crossing shots, which require you to figure out lead. The last clip demonstrates this perfectly.  I dont know if it is apparent to the viewer but every time I watch the slow mo footage I can see myself speed up my swing slightly to overtake the bird .  I even remember consciously thinking of that when I took the shot.  I have found that the saying "think long, think wrong" does not apply to birds on the wing.
I can usually "feel" myself take an extra split second to compensate for
the slower speed of the arrow (as compared to skeet shooting with shotgun. I even took a third pheas on this trip but did not catch that one on
video.
