At least that's the way I feel about.  Brian Wessel has shipped a very personal bow that's due through my door tomorrow. It's no ordinary bow and certainly meets my definition of "custom made". My father is very ill these days.  It's likely that he and I will never share a fall day afield again.

Brian has put together a bow for me that contains a momento from my Dad's last successful buck bow hunt, a hunt that I shared with him.  I cut a cross section of the small buck's antler and carved it into an arrowhead shape which Brian inlaid into the new bow's riser. Dad and I loved to hunt from cedar trees and blinds which happens to be what the bow limb veneers are made of, eastern red cedar. There will more than a few memories attached to this bow.

I will be posting several photos in the next few days.

Enjoy the time you have left with your father.
I lost my dad about a year ago.  When I was cleaning out his room, I found a cheap old pocket knife that he always carried.  I now keep it in my pocket all the time.  I have better quality knives, but I always want "his" knife with me.

I know the Tall Tines will be even more special to you as the years go by.

There's nothing better than carrying a bow with true significance behind it.  I'm sure it will bring you many special moments... and memories!

Very cool.  I lost my dad a few years back.  He was 54.  It's tough.

Seems every bow that Wessel guy puts out is pretty special.  I can't wait to see how the pictures come out when a pro takes them.  I am always ashamed my pictures don't do any justice to the bows he has made for me.

Gary Logsdon

Thanks "MSU Mike":^) and to everyone else for your nice comments. The turkey in the the April/May TBM cover was tagged last spring. I have some big plans for the bow, no doubt; hopefully I can take another bird this spring with the new Tall Tines. If the mail man cooperates I will have some bow photos to post tomorrow night!
