I was thinking of getting a recurve and ask which was better for thoes who have shot the Cascade and the Sheapeater recurves. Most said the Sheapeater was better that have shot both.

My question is I never had a static tip recurve and want to know if stringing the bow is difficut? I always use a bow stringer, but want to hear from thoes that have shot a static tip recurve and what do you think of stringing one?

I recently acquired a BBD 3-piece recurve and it has static tips. I'm not gonna lie to ya......it scares the crap outa me everytime I string it. I use a stringer with one of the rubber pieces that sits on the surface of the back of the limb. Just put it as close to the string loop and the end of the limb as possible and I find that spreading my feet further apart on the floor when stringing it allows me to better and easier get the string into the string notch on the limb.

It is scary......but I'm sure with time that this too shall pass. You would be hard pressed to find a bow that performs any better than one with static tips. They really sling an arrow downrange.

I just acquired a Chastain Wapiti, my first static limb recurve. First of all, I REALLY like the bow!

I have to admit I was a bit leery of stringing this bow, especially without the special stringer Chastain provides with hi new bows -- mine is used with no stringer.  However,  I don't find it difficult at all to use a regular, 2-pouch stringer to string and unstring mine. It is no different for me than any other. I put two feet in the stringer and start with the string at knee level.

Of course I am a lefty and you know how superior our coordination is! LOL

Cascades are not static tipped recurves first off. I have both a Cascade Golden Hawk Magnum and a SheepEater Spirit and they are different completely bows...now if you were to compare the older Texas Commanche to the SheepEater then we'd be comparing apples to apples.

Oh yeah all that being said with my SheepEater or any static tip recurve I use a stringer EVERYTIME

I had opportunity to shoot the Sheepeater spirit back when Brent was making them and found that it was absolutely AWESOME. Very stable and forgiving to shoot for this longbow guy, and would absolutely smoke arrows downrange.

I have a RER xr with static tips and it's fine once you get use to stringing er up. Just make sure you place the the rubber piece that is movable closest to the tip/end of limb and double check that your loops are ready to go

I use a double pouch stringer on my sheepearter every time. No big deal. Like Bowwild said though us lefties are more coordinated. Lol. Seriously though after a few times it's just like any other bow.

I have a Talon TD static tip recurve. It's 65@28 and you better believe I use a stringer every time! I use the one Sixby sent with the bow and it works very well. Instead of the rubber piece that is on some stringers, he threaded the cord through a piece of leather that sits on top of the limb (where the rubber piece normally sits.) I haven't tried to use any of my other stringers because Steve's works so well.

BBD is a Border Black Douglas.

I have only shot one.  It was a short TD loner bow.  It was quiet for a recurve, fast, and scary to string for a LB shooter.  I am sure I could get used to it, but it sure was different than a LB or even a standard recurve.  I want to try one again some time.

I believe my Assemhiemer are static tipped .. very smooth fast bows.

I have two RER Arroyo's static tip design. I have never had a issue stringing either of these bows. I do have a longbow with carbon/foam limbs that the stringer slides on and that will get your attention FAST.

The Border Black Douglas is not a static tip recurve. They have a dramatic amount of recurve, but it's a fully working limb, not static.

never had an issue stringing the Sheepeater I had. Angelo, how is that bow working out for you? Hope you are enjoying it.

JD Jone's makes one helluva sexy bamboo backed osage static.  Dunno if the build along is still on here from way back when!

I shoot and make composite static tip recurves and am yet to use a stringer for any of them always use the step through method and it works fine for me.

That bamboo backed static recurve by JD Jones is a sweet lookin bow!!! I'd like to shoot one sometime.
