what glues are you using for the inserts?  do you glue teh nocks in as well?

seems like my my arrows hit anything hard the nock launch out and the inserts as well.  dont seem stump shoooting worthy.  

also i have seen people cutting peices off aluminum arrows and gluing them in the front of the arrows to keep it from splitting. anyone know what size you would need to a gt trad 1535 arrow? or is it only good for smaller diameters liek the easton arrows?

dont feel like breaking all my arrows when im trying to have fun.

i use alcohol to clean the roughened up shaft and insert, then glue with Epoxy.

I also use an aluminium footing wich you mentioned, in the "how to" section theres a thread from charlie lamb with a list of matching shafts, the 1535 is in it i think.

i dont glue nocks but replace them when they pop out, doesnt happen to often tough, just make sure you shoot at older stumps and not the fresh cut ones, the harder the stump, the greater the risk of a damage....

Are you shooting wood ? if so take some polyurethane and with a Qtip seal the nock taper and let it dry (do it twice) and then take the nock put a drop or two in the nock and spin it on the taper and then align it up to where you want and when dry it won't come off. And there was a thread about aluminum footings for wood that had a size chart on it.

In the How To-Resources section are a list of aluminum arrow sizes for carbon arrow footings.2117 should be what you need.

I put a 1" piece on the front and 1/4" piece on the back.If you are going to do it,make sure you do the back also.That will help with those nocks.I sand lightly with 220 grit,clean and epoxy them on.JB Weld is good for this.Bevel the rear of the footing that goes on the front of the shaft.Chuck the footing in a drill press or drill,spin and bevel that back edge with a mill file.It is quick and easy and makes them easier to pull out of targets.

A small tubing cutter is best for cutting.You can clean up the ends of the footings by rubbing on a sharpening stone if they need it.

Footing like this adds incredible strength to carbons on frontal impacts.I doubt if the length of the footing is critical but I make them all the same.

Look in the How To section. Charlie Lamb has a list of footing sizes for carbons. I do it exactly the same as Jim B. Bomb proof arrows. By the way, you should see just how sharp Jim gets those Grizzlies. Impressive to say the least.

I don't have nock problems, but try some plastic wrap to snug up the fit.

be careful when the nock comes out it can mean a split shaft on the nock end.  GT used to have some nocks with a allan screw in them that you tighten, never had nocks pop out with those.  They stopped making them for some reason but I liked them.  BTW I shoot spurce and don't have any problem with them even when I hit a live hickory, judo just drives in them.

thanks for the tip guys.  the snows starting o melt some and i cant wait to get out and see how fun stump shooting can be.

still have to buy some judos, more brass inserts and nocks

i use plastic wrap or a piece of plastic bag then insert nock...keeps them from popping out.

ill give that a try. i just cant wait until summer.  i want to start getting healthy and work out more and stumping seems like a great way to get in shape and sharpen your skills. ill probably be walking the mountains everyday in the summer doing it.

Plastic wrap works well if your using arrow wraps leave 1/8" or so over the end fold over and install nocks, I haven't lost a nock since.
