Okay guys I've been looking around a bit and have come across a couple links or company's on old threads and the net.  But I want to know who you go to to get your wood arrow shafting.

So far I have came up with Surewood, Allegheny Mountain Arrow Woods, and Hexshaft.  I know there used to be a couple others that I had listed on my favs of my old computer.

I'm about ready to take the plunge and go with some woods for my Paxton Talon that is on the way.  It only seems right to shoot wood out of a straight limb bow.

So where do y'all get your wood shafting at?  Fir, POC, hardwood, let's here who you go to.

I've gotten tapered Ash from Raptor Archery and had excellent customer service.

Braveheart archery and Allegheny mountain. Both great guys and products.

Depending on your bows draw weight, hardwood shafts will be real heavy and may not be your first choice. I'll PM you some of my thoughts tomorrow.

I picked up my Surewoods from Badger Arrow and was very pleased.

I'll 2nd Allegheny Mountain Arrow Woods.  Bill is a great guy to work with, and knows his product well. I might pick up some purple heart from him at Kzoo next year, and his hickory shafts are fantastic.  Just listen to what he has to say about shafts and moisture.  He will give you some very valuable advice.

Give Hildebrand shafts a try. Neil and his guys are real good people to deal with.

I get all mine from Hildebrand, couldn't be happier.

if yer a newbie getting into woodie crafting, i recommend getting surewoods from our sponsor, braveheart archery.

Blake, I am going for the surewoods fir shafts this year. they are super strong and straight from everything I have heard. I have always used Wapitis tapered cedars before and been well pleased with them.

Just picked up two dozen POC from Kustom King.  They have always treated me well.

I just spent the afternoon tapering the last 12" of two dozen 11/32" Surewoods (from Braveheart) down to 5/16".  They are tougher than cedar as far as working them (my scraping plane chatterred much more and I had to do a lot of sanding).  But when I came up with burnishing them the result is a very hard and shiney "raw" pre-finish.  These should make fantastic arrows.

But I do miss the cedar smell.  Douglas fir isn't bad, though.

I've been getting P.O. Cedar from Three Rivers and have had good luck with them.

Hildebrand shafts are top quality, every single one that I got made a fine arrow, no culls at all.  the Sitka Spruce makes a little lighter arrow than I prefer, but seems to suit others just fine.

Kustom King has been very good about sorting P O cedar shafts into groups by weight and spine, and shipping what you specify.

I get a lot of my shafts by rummaging through the vendors stocks at bigger shoots if they are sorted by weight and spine

I don't know if Braveheart tapers shafts or not. But if they don't then go to Archery-Past.net  Dave Doran sells Surewoods and does a great job of end tapering them. Very knowledgeable man too.

Thanks for the info guys.  I've been doing my own carbon shafts since I started back into archery a couple years ago but I want to do some woodies.

Next will be tapering and footing and all that fancy stuff.

Maybe Rob or one of the guys can do a build along with tapered and footed shafts.
