was wondering if anyone has some arrows they would like to show with knapped heads. and what would be the best size?   legnth x width ?

how do you think glass would work? i'm thinkin its as strong as obsidian.

No pictures but I can tell you what I prefer.  I like a corner or base notched point or a side notched one with the ears narrower than the rest of the blade, that is from 7/8 to 1 1/4 inches wide and 1 3/4 to 2 1/4 long.  I have found that these styles will not carry hair, skin, sinew etc. into the entry wound and limit penetration.

I like a side notch such as the Cash River or the Osceola.  Great points.  Glass does make a great point, I use glass from old fish tanks.  Works great.  Don't have any pictures. About 1" at base and about 1 3/4" to 2" long is about right.
Always say what you mean, that way people will know you mean what you say.

I dug up some that have been successful in the past.  Not very good at this pic transfer, hope this one makes it.

Here are a few of my favorite type points. Narrow side notched, right around 100 to 110 grs.

And a few I have used with success over the years.

I watched a video on youtube where Paleo Jim made a nice head from the bottom of a brown beer bottle. That guy is awesome.

arrow30- If you need flint give me a holler. I personally like the obsidian heads, but I won't pay to get it, not when Missouri is full of chert (flint)

  thats cool, you guy's sure got the knapping figured out, i still can't turn out pieces like those....fine work.

thanks semo, ive got plenty around here. ive been using old tv glass.

I never thought of that, I know just where to find some too. Thanks for the tip.
They say the blue clear glass rocks that people put in their aquariums makes good heads also.

How do you intend to practice with them?
Obviously they aren't going to take much abuse, so what type of set up will you use to test them and practice with them?
Just curious.

a block of styrofoam of some sort, just to make sure they fly rite.

bondo

use caution on old tv glass, it can contain high amounts of lead. Not good to breath too much of that stuff.

A friend made these for me.  I made the rack to display them.

At least $1000 for just possessing any raptor feathrs...or other body parts.
I hunted exclusively with stone points for the last 3 years. Unfortunately I haven't had the opportuntiy to take a deer with one yet.
I don't knap but trade with friends for stone points. Glass orks just fine. Obsidian is volcanic glass.
